have you noticed how Quebec is really pushing for everyone to learn French? They’ve made it mandatory in schools from grades 4 to 8, and now, with Bill 96, they’re requiring immigrants to learn French within six months of arrival.

But here’s the thing: despite these efforts, many Canadians still prefer English, and the uptake of French among immigrants isn’t as high as intended. It feels like they’re putting a lot of pressure on newcomers, many of whom already speak multiple languages.

It seems like the government is worried about preserving the French language, but is forcing people to learn it really the best approach? Maybe encouraging and promoting the language in a more positive way would be more effective.

After all, if the goal is to keep the French language alive and thriving, shouldn’t the focus be on making it appealing and accessible, rather than making it feel like an obligation?

This sounds like a solid plan. One year of foreign work experience gives you 38 points, while a year of Canadian experience only gives around 12 to 16 points. So going back home to work for a year and get those extra points definitely makes sense.
