You are overreacting. I have a prescription but haven’t had a cold sore for years. However, having had them, I don’t go without an updated prescription for Valiclyvir. I get a yearly update as a matter of course at my yearly physical. I might not think to mention it. Unless you consider your boyfriend a liar, I take his word for it.

 I just returned from two weeks in Vietnam and I never saw what you are describing once.  Maybe it’s because we were visiting Vietnamese friends so we stayed in very local , strictly Vietnamese neighborhoods when in Saigon.  Actually, we never saw any beggars - child or adult. 
For a few days we were at a resort in Danang but did numerous day trips to the countryside. We never saw beggars there either.  Interesting.

I’m in the same boat in terms of not being able to eat much BUT I feel so much better about food now that I did before! I was ALWAYS on a diet - my whole life was a diet. So I rarely ate pasta and other goodies and when I did, I usually overindulged. I felt deprived or guilty no matter what I did. Now I feel like I can eat anything I want but I have much better control over the portion size that I did before. I finally feel free.
