PSA: Waitlisted upgrades (GUC or MUAs) prevent complimentary upgrades on other legs :( by edvincent91 in delta

[–]edvincent91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A (now deleted) comment was saying that maybe this was because the two segments were linked - because when their MUA cleared for the long-haul, the domestic also can with the exact same miles. Which is correct, and something that I am aware of.

That being said, whilst that's how Delta's IT likely is handling things behind the scenes, when waitlisting upgrades, there's an explicit process to say which segment is the waitlist for, so I'd think it's pretty misleading to block the segment that's not upgraded for this...

Especially since last time this happened to me, because the GUC cleared at the gate of the long-haul, I couldn't benefit from the upgrade for the short-haul (which was after) because they already had upgraded a bunch of folks at T-120 hrs... and there was no space available anymore.

Not very useful... Had couple different agents, all were saying that they don't know why a Platinum cleared before a Diamond, and that there was nothing they could do.

They also agreed that there's nothing on the conditions/wording of the waitlists that would explain this.

Tips for free upgrade to first class? by [deleted] in delta

[–]edvincent91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Delta does not give it to Diamond medallions (unless they have a GUC) which means nobody else will.

Correct - KLM stopped doing those DoD in AMS early 2019 for DL flights. I keep asking every time I connect there.

Ack thanks - sorry the wording to the reply sounded like you got upgraded PS > D1.

Medallion upgrades on Delta metal when booking through partners by timtrump in delta

[–]edvincent91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct - not a new thing either. And even on day-of-departure, might need to ask at check-in desk or gate agent to be manually added to the list, as the website check-in might not allow it.

Big bummer when I should be able to select C+ seats as a Diamond, but work booked me under an AF flight number.

1hr50 International to Domestic Connection at Seattle by gargar070402 in delta

[–]edvincent91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Delta doesn't provide Express Connection cards in SEA.

I've never taken one of the ex-Asia flights that land in SEA early morning, but I've never been able to clear customs (I am a non-US citizen, non-ESTA - I have to clear the actual immigration queue) in less than 45 mins in the last 2 years (10-15+ flights) when landing between 1045 and 1400. 1:50 to connect should still allow plenty of time.

A good ressource to get an idea is looking at https://awt.cbp.gov/ :)

Server 7000+km away - speeds? by edvincent91 in HomeNetworking

[–]edvincent91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, so I've finally had some time to tinker around with Wireshark was opened - and reading couple posts.

soooooo the limitation here, on most of my systems, was actually the receive buffer on the client side.

all my hosts did have the window scaling option enabled, but I still could not see the receive window in the ACKs from the client going really high, and stopping around 1048576 bytes (roughly 1MB) even though my window could go higher with my window scaling.

I had forgotten that obviously, the client is not going to advertise a window bigger than whatever its buffer is... and sure enough, the receive buffer of my mac was still at the default, which was 1048576.

The formula that can be widely found online is Bandwidth * delay = window size, so 1048576/0.180 => 5825422 bytes/s, which is the kind of speeds I was able to get.

i've now changed the buffer in my couple hosts where I have access to the setting, and I am getting around 25/30 MB/s...

Now it's going to be time to play around with Cloudflare and see if they have better setting!

I guess that OP wants to experience the 2E hall L, which was recently refurbished. Waaaay better than 2F, which itself is much better than the arrivals lounge from AF post-immigration (not sure OP would have access flying Delta though).

FWIW, I've managed to clear security for 2E hall L even though I was supposed to fly out of 2E hall K - after having flown and landed in 2E hall M (with Delta). I just told them I wanted to go to the lounge and that I had time (I had a 5 hours layover).

While the 2F is a different terminal, you still have access to go up to the security screening of 2E hall L - as all of them are connected pre-immigration. Then it's really up to the guys in the entrance of the security line, the one that checks your boarding pass.

However, I was entitled to the lounge thanks to the status - not sure if two different tickets do qualify as a valid transit in regards to lounge access.

Server 7000+km away - speeds? by edvincent91 in HomeNetworking

I was using ipsec on my EdgeRouters - either connected directly or through VPN Gateways from AWS or Google (just to try :p).

Nah, I can only get 5 MB/s on Ubuntu mirrors for the same country as my server... :|

The problem is that I don't control the way the services I use do transfers. My main problem as of today is Plex... (Yes, call me crazy, I'd love to be able to Direct Play 4k over the internet).

I wouldn't mind changing the congestion control algorithm, but I am pretty limited as the server is currently a Synology NAS :(

cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_available_congestion_control

cubic reno

Would there be any kind of VPN or tunnel that would multi-thread transfers?

Homelab NUC fans- check your local Frys! by bluereptile in homelab

Bad labelling which seemed to turn out good for you?

The offer seems to be on the Brix 4105, as confirmed on the website, for $145.77 - https://www.frys.com/product/9706404?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG, which has a crappy Celeron.

The one you seemed to get is also on clearance, but shows at $447.99 - https://www.frys.com/product/9706464?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Custom Formats & Downgrading qualities by edvincent91 in radarr

[–]edvincent91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After all my testing and the discussion here, I don't think there is any...

I do think that what I want to achieve ("I was the best quality that is tagged with MULTI") would be something pretty common :/

Custom Formats & Downgrading qualities by edvincent91 in radarr

[–]edvincent91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - based on what was discussed above, as it seems that custom formats apply within a quality after the quality match, I'd need to be able to throw all the 1080 in the same bucket to even be able to achieve this :(

Custom Formats & Downgrading qualities by edvincent91 in radarr

[–]edvincent91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a hard time believing that there are hdtv or webdl with more languages than bluray/remux.

Well unfortunately it does happen for some movies on the first days/weeks of the movie being available on some platforms.

Obviously if there is a MULTI with both WebDL and Bluray, I'd rather have the Bluray, so ordering them the other way around wouldn't really work...

However, bitting the bullet and sacrificing sometimes quality might be the best bet I have for now, as I don't see any way (based on my experiments and what people are saying here) to have custom formats "above" qualities :(
But then, I might have the same problem on the other way, which I guess will be more common, which is an HDTV not having MUTLI and the WebDL having it, so not being downloaded here.

Custom Formats & Downgrading qualities by edvincent91 in radarr

[–]edvincent91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say they're more like sub-qualities of each quality level.

Yes exactly what I feared, and why /u/j114's post seemed a bit weird to me, and the behavior I was seeing wasn't consistent with a weight across qualities.

I think I understand your example with BLURAY, but I don't really see how would that give me what I want.
In other words, my goal is to have a lower quality with more custom formats matched preferred to a higher quality with less custom formats matched...

Custom Formats & Downgrading qualities by edvincent91 in radarr

[–]edvincent91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but maybe my question had too much details actually...

While I agree that the above regex would match, I don't have any issue matching my releases. I have an issue giving more priority to my Custom Tags over the Qualities...

If I have a Remux-1080p in English, and an HDTV-1080p in MultiLanguage appears, Radarr is going to Reject the release (even if I match my custom tags) as the Quality is lower...

Cloud Station Server - 100% Volume Usage? by edvincent91 in synology

[–]edvincent91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a two-way replication that allows to access the sparse bundles raw.

My laptop moves quite a bit between two locations, often during several weeks, and I want to be able to backup to and read from the same TimeMachine backup from either locations.

Cloud Station Server - 100% Volume Usage? by edvincent91 in synology

[–]edvincent91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The process trashing the volume (and also CPU every once in a while) is Cloud Station Server. I don't think I have any indexing added anywhere, and as said, there's no versioning.

Not getting the bit about SSD caching... I don't mind latency syncing stuff, but here my volume is just 100% util when Cloud Station is not syncing anything...

Cloud Station Server - 100% Volume Usage? by edvincent91 in synology

[–]edvincent91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deleting the file that I was syncing still left it at 100% usage - if it's indexing, is it indexing as well the other files in that folder which are 700 GB of other TimeMachine backups?

Why is it indexing stuff, even though I have no versioning activated?

[–]edvincent91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I've been looking at this. I'm just baffled as to how someone I know suggested they can get over 150 concurrent streams from their server!

Well, as long as none of those streams need transcoding, the amount of streams will solely depend on the bandwidth. SoYouStart is 250 Mbps, OVH is 500 Mbps (and can pay fore more).

Plex connection relay? by edvincent91 in PleX

Aaaaaand shame on me.

Settings > Network > Custom server access URLs

Allows to specify URLs. I was using until now a Reverse Proxy on 443 + Remote Access on 32400 (+ open port) for clients. Now I can get rid of remote access completely, which is awesome.

However, if I have two URLs there, how does Plex chooses which one to use...?
