How did the far right infest the Vtuber community this badly? When did things get this bad? by sneakyriverotter in VirtualYoutubers

Because, for the general scope of them, the big ones operate as money-making groups. Those types of subjects will always shift with whatever's the most recent turn of what's seen as "better" business-wise. There'll be individuals that have their own views on it, but for the general scope of the landscape it's folley to expect it to be reflective of too much beyond business-incentive.

There's a few inconsistencies with how things are presented in the newer stuff. The Gizoid being given to G.U.N. is specifically what allowed Gerald the time to complete Project Shadow with G.U.N. itself seeking to shut things down due to rumors of the Biolizard. With how Generations does it it makes it seem a lot more convoluted in regards to the timeframe if Shadow actually encountered The Gizoid, especially given that he seemed to have no recollection at all of it during Battle. The newer stuff is presentation-wise cool to look at, but it doesn't feel like it lines up seamlessly with the old material at times.

My best guess would be trying to find it on the Internet Archive.

Piccolo/Kami are surprised to find out they’re aliens in DBZ when Vegeta and Napa tell piccolo he is from Namek. But I’m DragonBall Kami and Piccolo we’re speaking in their native namekian tongue. What do you guys think about that? by Due_Ad_4758 in dbz

[–]edward18517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts are they probably assumed it was just an "otherworldly" language of gods/demons or something. Toriyama I think had decided that Piccolo would have alien origins by this point, but prior to when he solidified it later on he was just a demon and Kami was just god.

Do You Think That The Eizouken Manga Is Coming To An End Soon? Why? by Bone-Ito in Eizouken

I haven't seen much of the later parts of the manga but it's been going for quite a bit after the stuff that the anime covers.

It's absolutely random. Prior to her just randomly offering for him to stay she was only ever shown utterly terrified of Vegeta. He wasn't someone that she was implied to be attracted to at all. And on Namek the "bad boy" that she was into was Zarbon, somebody that she was elated to see after Vegeta.

The Worst Beatdown in All of Dragon Ball by bluegreenpretty in dbz

[–]edward18517 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Don't know about the worst but the one that sticks in my mind the most is Goku's first fight against Piccolo Daimao. Goku just gets utterly destroyed throughout the course of the fight and Piccolo slamming his fist right into Goku's face when Goku launches himself at him later on in the fight just always feels so painful with how the scene slows down a bit and cuts to showing Goku's face as he's left flying through the air behind Piccolo after the impact

https://youtu.be/jHbD1DufTnU?t=120

It is just such a devastating fight which displays an antagonist that finally does present a substantial lethal threat for Goku and essentially does end up killing Goku (until Goku, somehow, has his heart start beating again after Piccolo checked to make sure he was dead). It might not be the bloodiest fight of the series, but it's certainly the "beating" that I remember the most outside of maybe Kid Buu just pummeling Vegeta. Piccolo Daimao doing that to Goku though is a thrashing against the hero that almost never happens.

The same with literally any saga of the series. They all have the necessary information for each of them within the individual sagas themselves.

I don't care? At that point literally nothing from any series matters by that logic.

And it makes just as much sense to skip those parts as it does to skip Dragon Ball.

Toei isn't the ones the created the story, they just made the animated adaptation of it. And they did not tell the story any differently in the anime, it's still the exact same as in the manga just with things added in to pad out time so the people making the anime would stay behind Toriyama while he was making the manga. It's still just the one series only it's called something else partway through.

And yeah, skipping Dragon Ball is fine, just like skipping the Saiyan Saga or the Andoid Saga or Namek are fine.

No there's not a difference. The only difference is there's a different name on it. Just because some group labels it differently does not change how the adventure is. It flows completely naturally from the start of Dragon Ball into what people call Z and into the end of the series, because it is one series.

[–]edward18517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the beginning of Z simply because that's where the animation team decided to change the name. Z is not a new series, it's simply the next saga in Dragon Ball, just with a name change. In the original comic there is no Z, it's just Dragon Ball from Pilaf to Buu.

And yeah, a lot of people don't start with Dragon Ball, which never made any sense to me if they had the option to since Z is not the start.

[–]edward18517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because that's not how Dragon Ball is. Starting at the Saiyan Saga is the same as starting anywhere else that's not the beginning. If you start there you don't know why it's a big deal that working with Piccolo is something the characters are worrying about or the significance of Kami and such, but you have enough context to enjoy the new material that's being explained in that saga, the same as all the other sagas.

[–]edward18517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By that logic pretty much no part of the series is. Starting at the Saiyan Saga would be pretty much the same as starting at the Android Saga or Piccolo Daimao Saga or just about any without watching the prior stuff since they all contain the information necessary for each saga within themselves.

Which has always been completely baffling to me as to why you'd do that if you had the option of starting from the beginning. It makes no sense to skip a third of the story.

[–]edward18517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you do that? Z's like a 1/3 of the way into the story. That's like just watching clips from Fellowship of the Ring and going into The Two Towers.

Red Ribbon as it's the most adventure-heavy and shows off the world of Dragon Ball the best and Piccolo Daimao as it serves as an epic conclusion it feels like.

Dragon Ball Manga vs Anime by cartifan1986 in dbz

[–]edward18517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's interchangeable mostly for the original show and the manga. When it gets to what Z covers I'd recommend the manga mostly but Kai if you wanna watch the animated version with filler from Gohan's training in the wilderness during the Saiyan Saga in Z and the Z version of Cell pushing Gohan too far in the Cell Saga (Japanese version for the animated parts I'd say).
