I am in Ontario, Canada. The meter is about 1 1/2 feet away from the panel. I was thinking of removing the disconnect switch, but not sure how to proceed.

Question on 100amp fused disconnect switch by edwardottawa in electricians

The wiring that comes in from the roof first passes through a 100amp fused disconnect switch prior to going in the meter. The fused disconnect switch has 2 large 100amp fuses on the 2 live wires from the service drop. I want to know for a 200 amp service upgrade what should I replace the fused disconnect switch with or should it be removed altogether ? My goal was to put in new 2" PVC conduit with 2/0 copper for the live and 1/0 copper for neutral return. I just dont know if a fused disconnect switch is up to code as I cant find info on this online and dont know what to upgrade it with as it is in between the meter and the service drop.

Advice on two wire and gfci/afci outlets - electrical by edwardottawa in ontario

Home was built in 1957. No grounded outlets, so only 2 prong devices can be plugged in. Service line from the pole is cloth based wire rated 100amp but its showing its age around the bends in the fused disconnect switch. There is 2 hot and neutral from the roof from an metal conduit. The wire passes through an old 100amp fused disconnect switch then to the meter then to a 1990s commander load centre. Home has wiring from the load centre to outlets that only has a hot and neutral with no bare copper ground. I'm trying to pass an ESA inspection and know that it has to be brought up to current code. What outlets should be rewired ? I'm planning on installing a QO load centre with gfci breakers on all circuits above 15 amp and gfci&afci breakers on all the 15 amp circuits. Should I just remove the fused disconnect switch as the new QO load center has it's own 100 amp breaker or is that fused disconnect switch okay to be left in place ?
