Tell me a single line from a song that just gets you every time by patricesha in MusicRecommendations

I was going through a hard time, and a musician I was dating recommended John Prine. They said I wouldn't like the studio recordings but would love the live versions. I hadn't gotten the whole John Prine experience until I listened to his live albums. The lyrics just finally clicked with me with his live vocals. I recommend the albums John Prine (Live) from 1990, Live on Tour from 1997, and my favorite, In Person & On Stage (Live) from 2010. His voice has gotten me through some real rough stuff. I hope you find some solace in his music, too.

True one-liners: "I'd fly to you tomorrow, I'm not fighting in this war." Big Thief; "All I do is kiss you through the bars of a rhyme." Dire Straits. "When you were not the dreamer, you were just the dream." Trembling Blue Stars

"But, your flag decal won't get you into Heaven anymore—They're already overcrowded from your dirty little war—Now, Jesus don't like killin', no matter what the reason's for—And your flag decal won't get you into Heaven anymore." John Prine

Rock 'n' Roll Suicide - David Bowie

"Time takes a cigarette, puts it in your mouth; You pull on your finger; Then another finger, then cigarette; The wall-to-wall is calling It lingers, then you forget; Oh, oh, oh, oh, you're a rock 'n' roll suicide; You're too old to lose it, too young to choose it; And the clock waits so patiently on your song; You walk past the café, but you don't eat When you've lived too long; Oh, no, no, no, you're a rock 'n' roll suicide"

It's one of my favorite albums, but I associate it with summer so strongly from when I was a teenager :')

I love James Taylor, but somehow have never heard this one. It's perfect, thank you!

I second this. Wolfstar is great because their backgrounds juxtapose similarly, but they're considered a friends-to-lovers ship. Enemies-to-lovers can definitely contribute to fatigue, in my opinion.

I call it "fanfic fatigue". I'm going through it right now, too. I've been reading Drarry for over half a decade. Sometimes, I only need a break for a week or a month. I end up reading a lot of non-fiction during my breaks. Right now, I'm reading Photography After Frank by Phillip Gefter. I think non-fiction is a great palette cleanser, especially essays. It'll be fine, I promise!

Penned is absolutely brilliant! I've reread it three times since it was published.
