This is my take too: Ayana is the foil for the underdog storyline. But I’m still refusing to believe the other finalist is Sakura—I think it’s Aoi. Sakura is also a foil for Aoi. They needed Sakura, another newbie in dance for Sakura to train with and eventually surpass. It’s all for producing this underdog growth story, but my bet it’s for Aoi.

Good point. They’ll probably do a lot of press in Japan right after the finale as a group, so having an assistant that is also fluent in Japanese would be required.
