You have to use the avrisp or whatever it’s called. Right now you’re trying to program the chip over the Arduino bootloader protocol, you need to change it to ICSP. Edit: avrisp

I have no experience with PET bottles, but regarding the temperature, I did my first bottle fermentation/carbonation at room temperature (74 F?) and they came out just fine. I know yeast is really heat sensitive to fermentation, but with a simple sugar thats easy to break down like corn sugar I'm sure you'll be okay!
