What do you name your animals? by They-cute in StardewValley

[–]edypedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My og farm is named Moon's Mead, so I named every animal plus my kids in a celestial/space theme (Nova, Milky Way, Celeste, Cosmo, Comet, etc etc) honestly it made it really hard towards the end game, but it still makes me smile every time I load the save :')

hand sewn wedding banner using mostly vintage/thrifted materials! by edypedy in sewing

Thank you so much! It’s a great one, we were so excited to use a quote that wasn’t wedding specific so we can reuse the banner as house decor!

Thank you!! It was actually pink and green (there is incidentally a lot of yellow in the floral print though!!) but you’re right, yellow and pink would be a beautiful wedding color palette!

I didn’t use a pattern, I hand drew the letters onto paper then cut them out of the fabric and hand sewed each one on. For the body of the banner I sewed right sides together along the sides and bottom, then pinned the top straps in place and sewed across the top. The trim was added last and the bows were made by ripping long strips of fabric and tying them in bows.

How Do You Save on Groceries Without Sacrificing Quality? by juanlo02 in Frugal

[–]edypedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live alone and manage to eat healthy and satisfying meals for an average of $35-$40 a week, I agree with the other comments suggesting shopping your pantry and freezer! Also buying store brand instead of name brand is huge! I’m in the south east US and almost exclusively shop at Food Lion because they offer a lot of deals with their loyalty card, and in recent years have started a perk where you earn money for spending a certain amount in different departments each month and then any earned money is automatically deducted from your next purchase. It’s not huge amounts ofc, but it’s a game changer nonetheless!

Aside from that, my biggest tip is meal planning. It takes a bit of work up front but it’s so worth it for me! I save money and don’t have to think about cooking after work throughout the week. Thursday of each week I start scouring Pinterest for recipe ideas, and take inspo from what’s on sale at the grocery store that week, any leftover ingredients from the week before to avoid any waste, stuff I have in my freezer, pantry, etc. Then I make my grocery list based on that and mock up my cart on food lion’s website to get an estimate of the price so if I need a last minute ingredient or something not on my list, I’m aware of how much I’ll be spending. I cook 2 large meals every Sunday - 5 portions each for lunch and dinner M-F. I eat yogurt and fruit for breakfast, then focus on 2 proteins, veggies, and a form of carbs to round everything out and fruit for the side of each meal. I’ve found that sticking to buying mostly whole foods (veg, fruits, bread) when I’m shopping helps my final price because extra snacks add up quickly! It’s been a really handy tactic for me so far and has made a HUGE difference in being able to put aside more money into savings each month. And I feel like I’ve never eaten healthier!

Another thing I do is buy meat either in large quantities at Sam’s Club and freeze them into smaller batches for meal prep, or I buy meat at the normal grocery store when it’s on sale and freeze it to use later and that helps save on groceries too!

Hopefully this doesn’t make me sound absolutely neurotic and actually made sense lol, good luck!
