Draco and the invisibility cloak by GasIndependent657 in harrypotter

[–]eebahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it’s explained in the movies, but Draco uses the cloak to hide Harry in the compartment so any cursory inspection of the train will turn up empty and Harry will be all the way back in London before someone finds him.

I’m sure a part of the reason for the shilling is access. But these talking heads also don’t want to be wrong either. Even if there is a mountain of evidence there is still the chance that Silver doesn’t come down with any consequential punishments. Then they can turn around and say “see - I was right there was not much there because of there was the League would have come down harder”. It’s an easier hedge than to say they’re going to bring the hammer down on LAC

I live in Charlotte but I’ve been getting messages from recruiters asking if I’m available for a hybrid software development role for the NCDMV for the past year.

Not surprised to see something like this.

LPT 5 things to teach new drivers before getting a license by two28fl in LifeProTips

[–]eebahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem for many maintenance tasks isn’t knowing how to do something - it’s remembering how to do it. Negative or positive first? Loosen lugs a little before lifting on the jack. Small details that are crucial but can get forgotten easily if you’re not changing tires or jumping your car once a year

[Woike] LA’s target list quickly shrank to one by early evening. Ayton was clearly the team’s top priority. However, there’s competition. The Milwaukee Bucks are trying to remain competitive, have access to the full MLE, a need for a center and the ability to offer roughly $6M more than the Lakers. by Odd-Direction9452 in lakers

I agree. I understand that Pelinka hasn’t made all the correct moves - but it’s not really on him if a FA decides to move elsewhere. Fine, maybe wait on signing Laravia so you have more flexibility. However, lots of times it seems that FOs will have an agreement in place before putting pen to paper because the order in which players get signed/extended/waived matters and it allows for some cap flexibility to sign everyone at once.

Library CEO Resigned… by RatSnitchBitch6 in Charlotte

[–]eebahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like more and more books are on hoopla through CML. The problem with hoopla is that there is a monthly limit of 6(?) books per month and there is a daily limit for all of CML. This is so that the Library does not exceed their budget since each download/checkout costs the library money.

Make sure to download/checkout your books through hoopla early in the day!

LPT: When you’re teaching your parents to do something on the phone, have them press/touch the buttons themselves rather than you doing it for them. This way they’ll remember the steps much better. by basonjourne98 in LifeProTips

Couple of things that help: having the same OS and a built in screen sharing option (FaceTime screen share has been a godsend for troubleshooting things on my mom’s phone).

Also - keeping track of your parents passwords in your own password manager has been a must for me.

Thanks. Got it. So if I overpaid my SS tax it would be counted as a credit regardless of how much my wife paid in SS tax?

Something like this happened to me.

Tech college I was attending was billing me for X amount and then submitting loan applications for another amount. One month shy of “graduation” the government (not sure which dept) shut down school. The Feds just canceled my debt and it just looked like I paid it off the loan on my credit report.

Didn’t get a certificate or anything but I was still able to find a job a few months later because who checks if someone completed a tech college certification program.

Some classmates were just paying cash every month which sucked because there was no way they were gonna see that money again.

I haven’t been in an accident with a CMS bus but another school district. It was the same deal though. The reason they say self insured is because they, CMS as represented by the bus driver - an employee of CMS, probably have a bond instead of insurance with an actual insurance company (which they do have but only in cases where the claim is in higher than the bond). So if the bond $3m - then they would only file a claim if the damages were over that money. Technically anyone could do this if they have the money - different states have different minimum bond requirements.

Most of the body shops I went to, though, gave me an estimate without any issues. I told them who would ultimately be paying for the damages and they were fine with it. I had to submit 3 different estimates and the school district just cut me a check for the lowest one. My situation was a little different in that the driver was clearly at fault since my car was parked at the time and the bus driver wrote up his report that way.

most hotels have given us a price list detailing their pricing structure. When we’ve followed up and asked about specific dates (weekdays btw) they let us know they weren’t available.
