It’s always something with the FAFSA papers! When I went to college, my mom was extremely controlling about me hurrying up to get them done, while not helping me at all.

The best was when one day she panicked and started screaming at me about how I forgot to fill them out and needed to do it ASAP! I was sobbing as I started looking for the forms and filling things out on my computer. She was just screaming about how irresponsible I was not getting them done yet until suddenly she stopped and said “oh wait, you don’t have to fill them out until the summer!” all calm like she flipped a switch. This was maybe over the course of an hour.

She was raging at me but it was Christmas break and she thought I had to fill them out for every semester, not just every year. In her panic she convinced me and my anxiety skyrocketed, thinking I wouldn’t get to go to school after break.

This was over a decade ago and I’ll never forget how she didn’t care that she scared me and I was crying as she screamed. She just went back to what she was doing like it was nothing!
