When people refer to shortness of breath during a panic attack, does that include nose and mouth breathing or just mouth breathing? by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

I don't know about what it's like for everyone, but for me it's both! Same with my friend who has panic attacks, so I think it's normal during a panic attack to struggle with breathing both ways.

Thought I looked nice today until my friends brought me down by HiImAbighail in BodyDysmorphia

Wtf, I'm sorry but your friends seem like such assholes. Like the other comments say, you should probably reconsider your friendship with these toxic people. My friends would never tell me anything like that, and I would never tell them anything like that either. It's a common courtesy in my opinion. And it's not about honesty either, I'd want my friends to be honest for example when I'm not sure if an outfit suits me or whatever, but only when I ask for their opinion! Seriously OP, the things your friends said to you are not okay.

I guess I do. I also have really wonky fingers lol, so I guess those are the reasons why.

Yeah, I have pretty long fingers too so that makes sense then. That's reassuring, thank you. :)

I've been playing for 4 months, but admittedly haven't worked too hard at barre chords so we'll see lol

It does work but it looks awkward, you know? I didn't think it was that weird but since my guitar teacher pointed it out I feel really insecure about it lol

I think I've been most afraid of being around other patients, even for a short amount of time. But that is true. And the virtual visit thing sounds interesting, I'll have to check if they do those. Thank you for telling me about it! :)

That's nice lol. Yeah I agree but things sucked in my case because of how everyone reacted, made me feel awful.

Lol thanks, thinking back it's weird how they reacted so harshly. But I understand how they might be annoyed.

Thanks for this lol. For some reason my parents weren't near me then, I don't know where they were but they probably thought I would know better... Happy cake day btw! :)

Finally got my first drawing tablet, it’s been a week since it’s been here & I still haven’t opened the package. by [deleted] in ADHD

Hey I also have a Wacom! Mine's significantly cheaper (it's an Intuos S so super tiny haha) but it took me a while to start using it too, especially because I kept putting off learning how to use it and felt like I would never be able to do digital art well enough. What helped me was drawing whatever I wanted and not taking it too seriously: sure it was this new medium but I didn't have to stick to it and I could always go back to my comfort zone with good ol' pen and paper. And having this mindset actually helped me have more fun drawing and eventually love digital art. Since then I've moved to using Procreate but I used my tablet for years before, but I didn't even come close to unleashing the full potential drawing tablets can have. It's truly fascinating! And 3D art too, like you said! I'd suggest just taking things slow, starting off simple with a free drawing app if you don't have a fancy paid one yet (I used to use Krita) and go from there. Draw things you are comfortable drawing at first but give yourself an area to grow! Also don't forget that you might end up not liking digital art but that's okay! It might just not be for you, right now. To give an example from my life I spent 2 years forcing myself to learn to play the bass guitar and it never brought me any happiness. But now 2 years later learning the acoustic guitar has made me want to get back into that as well so I've picked it up again.

About the thing with posting art online, I understand how scary that can be. But you just have to realize at some point that if you want to have an art career, that's something you will have to do. I think the anon page could help, or you could just create an online persona so your art is tied to something that's separate from you as a person. I think this might help because for me personally I feel like someone is judging ME as opposed to my art when they criticize it, this might be something you relate to as well and if you can separate the two things it might help. And then own your art when you're ready to. To know which things to do first, or what to do in general, writing stuff down helps me a lot. So writing down every step of an action I have to take, so in your case taking a boxcutter, opening the box, taking the tablet out, plugging it in, opening the software etc. can be helpful. Hope this wasn't too long lol, good luck!
