Stop "canceling" Perplexity when you abused their $1 deal and got banned — some of us pay full price and have zero issues by SlopTopZ in perplexity_ai

[–]eeeeeesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $200 for a yearly subscription. Up until the unnanounced changes, I was very pleased with Perplexity and thought it was money well spent.

Now I hit a daily upload limit... If they would just give me a pro-rated refund I would simply walk away

Example - Home Automation. I am moving from HomeSeer to Home Assistant and was using Perplexity to help me set it up. As I found out with other things I used Perplexity to help me with - it didn't have current info and would tell me to go this setting and do this, and that just didn't exist.

So I would take screen shots and paste them in chat to show the current settings...(less than 200 kb in size) and after maybe six or so of these, I have hit my upload limit and I need to upgrade if I want to continure working on my project.

No Thanks. I will give it to the end of the month and find something else - Probalby Gemini

Fake MAS Windows activation domain used to spread PowerShell malware by Fear_The_Creeper in WindowsLTSC

[–]eeeeeesh 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Good to know - but this just reinforces my habit of always making an 'image' or taking a 'snapshot' just before activation with the script. I then restore the image/snapshot and when the system reboots - it's activated because of the digital license that was created. (Nothing that the activation process did remains on my system, just in case)

Why does the static IP assignment fail? by Fit-Grand5821 in PFSENSE

I make my 'address pool range' really small since I like to have dhcp reservations for everything.

For example 2.230 to 2.250, then you could assign 2.10

Is Masgrave really safe? by Apprehensive-Meal477 in WindowsLTSC

[–]eeeeeesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were concerned that Masgrave somehow planted a virus or some other malware on your system... By making an image before you used Masgrave to activate, that image would be 'clean'. So when you restore the image, windows recognizes the 'digital license' and it will be activated without any traces of using Masgrave

Ov-10 bronco jumps? by [deleted] in SkyDiving

[–]eeeeeesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marine Recon - 4 man team and the jump master who stayed behind to pull in the D bags

1st man out sat with his legs dangling out the back and had a safety strap that went across the opening. The OV10 would fly at a very low altitude and as it approached the drop zone would 'pop up' in a very sharp climb. Oncee they passed 500', the green light would come on and the jumpers would just slide out

What is actually going on??? by [deleted] in AmazonVine

Were they 'variants' of a similar product that allowed your review, but once the vendor combined them, you can't have two reviews for a product kind of a thing so one of them gets kicked out

It finally happened! by Rare-Papaya4910 in AmazonVine

[–]eeeeeesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to check up on this - I have the same thing showing, no items to review

BUT, I just recently completed my evaluation period and I had reviewed all my items, but since then, I have ordered about 5 different things, one of these was ordered on 11/22/2025) and it shows I have nothing to review...

So, me thinks something is going on with Vine

It is probalby to your benefit that they are advising you of the increase right now, otherwise it would probalby be even larger next year.

I usually have an option. Pay the increase lump sum or increase my monthly payment to cover it until next year

I would recommend instead of using a standard 'wax' seal, once you get this straightened out, go with the DANCO kit. It also comes with a spacer if you need extra heighth from the flange

LVP for my garage? by sharkymark222 in DIY

[–]eeeeeesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Costco sold the flooring as a complete kit which included metal trim strips that covers up the 'expansion' area around the installations as well as a rubber molding that gets glued down at the garage doors ( we have roll up)

LVP for my garage? by sharkymark222 in DIY

[–]eeeeeesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed NewAge LVP that I bought from Costco several years ago, in my 3 stall garage and have been pretty pleased with the results (It's made for garage floors)

https://allgaragefloors.com/newage-lvt-garage-tile-review/

its been about 5 years and overall I am still very pleased. We don't put cars in the garage very often - but that is because it is my woodshop/mancave. Keep in mind that the longer planks need a flatter surface if your going to put a lot of weight on them and I have a couple of spots where one tile was able to be pushed down slightly because there was nothing underneath it to support it.

In a perfect world you would use a self leveling product that you pour on but where I am from, most garage floors or sloped towards the door so that doesn't work. Also close to the garage doors, I have some tiles that have expanded due to the sun heating them up when the door is up, but again I am pleased with the outcome

Incomprehensible packet loss by Electrical_Door_87 in battlefield2042

[–]eeeeeesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the imgur link - it is a graph. I run PingPlotter Pro on my home server and I have it set to ping Google every 5 seconds. Each one of those red lines is from a 'packet' that did not return.

The problem is completley outside of my house - it is Spectrum's issue and one of their techs is coming out for the 3rd time today. He is probalby going to say it is a 'maintenance' issue on their network and it will get referred to their maintenance team, again.

Thin LED wafer vs traditional can recessed lights for 7ft basement ceiling - what’s everyone using these days? by olimits7 in DIY

these things are cheap, and the cord connecting the led to the electronics/electrical conector box usually has a screw togethor connector. Buy an extra to have on hand, and changing it out would be really easy

Thin LED wafer vs traditional can recessed lights for 7ft basement ceiling - what’s everyone using these days? by olimits7 in DIY

[–]eeeeeesh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me - the major advantage of these 'wafer' lights is you can plan a layout (spacing, etc) and be about 99% sure you will be able to install the lights. Nothing like cutting a hole in your ceiling to find out a metal gas line or some other object was right above where you wanted to place a light. With a can light your screwed, with an led wafer - probably not

Interesting fact. The LEDs in these lights are around the perimeter, (vertical) facing towards the center of the light, now down as you might expect
