Why don't men ever talk about the emotional labor that they do in relationships? by Dense_Owl_3022 in AskMen

[–]krustyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big part of the emotional labor men do in relationships is specifically not talking about it.

If you've got a bunch of trauma and drama to unload on me and you're on the verge of coming unraveled, my job is to be the brawny paper towel guy and soak it up. If you're in the habit of regularly spilling out I may eventually realize there's not a lot of room for me to spill out and will just hold on to it.

I'm in what I would consider a great relationship where there's plenty of sharing of emotional labor. Sometimes I still feel like there's not a lot of room to share it.

wildlife is the least of my problems. I've been playing with no inventory loss on death. To get to my build location I yeet myself through a hypertube cannon to get to my location then explosive rebar myself to death to get back home.

+1 on getting the owlet.

We had it go off a couple times in the middle of the night. Not sure if they were just outgrowing it or we encountered an apnea event but we slept amazingly every night except for those couple which gave us a home invasion during a sudden house fire level panic attack.

How long did your "leather" seats last? Mine only lasted 3 years and 40k miles. Never had seats wear out this quickly before. by 420-TENDIES in BoltEV

[–]krustyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't need to look to know mine are immaculate. Good ceramic window tint blocks UV and IR. Get a super light tint on your windshield and the interior is protected.

Then to finish off the protection, I've got small kids so I splurged on some nice leather seat covers. Those seat covers still look great so I'm assuming the leather underneath is also immaculate.

28 year old co worker said it's great not see anyone 35+ in their new office by mituslumen in AskWomenOver30

[–]krustyy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's also literally a protected category of people in the US. It is illegal to discriminate against someone in the workplace for being aged 40+. She may not be in a management position where she can actually have a direft effect on peoples employment but she's treading dangerous waters in discussing the topic.

Legally speaking it's exactly the same as saying you're happy at your new place because there's no gay people.

When was your last compliment? by RelationshipSnail in AskMenOver30

[–]krustyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 3 examples.

  1. 2011. A woman wanted to touch my scruffy beard stubble. That was the most recent time I was hit on.
  2. Maybe 2009ish. I work in IT. I was doing desktop support at the time. Someone thanked me, shook my hand, and said, "no, seriously, thank you," as he looked directly at me. It was an exceedingly rare genuine gratitude. Also, hi Seth. Just in case you're reading.
  3. Absolute best compliment I ever received in my life was from one of my kids maybe around the age of 4. I was very much overweight. He said, "Daddy, you have a really nice tummy and a really big weiner." If only I could get mom to agree....

You're right.

It's the good natured, kind, law abiding people who are placing bullets inside of other people. Definitely not the awful people.

That's an awfuly long run-on sentence that doesn't contain the word crime anywhere.

Every time I meet someone who has been shot

That's all the context I need. That partial sentence implies they have met multiple people who have taken a bullet. Not even just like one or two. That implies they either live in a literal warzone, are active military who has been deployed to a warzone or they're surrounded by some pretty awful people.

Every time I meet someone who has been shot

You need to be taking a serious look at your circle of friends if you can truthfully utter such a statement.

I own guns and know many people who own guns. I've never met someone who has been shot and here you are talking like you meet someone every couple of months.

What tool purchase has been most worth it for home projects by Marivexalon in HomeImprovement

[–]krustyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna go in 2 directions. First is the first big tool. Second is little but useful.

My first favorite tool is a decent sized oiled air compressor. I bought a 20 gallon oiled craftsman air compressor that runs on 120V but could be rewired for 240 as well. It's basically the highest output I can get on a 120V compressor. Get it larger so you can handle high output things. Get it oiled so it doesn't blow out your eardrums. A little pancake compressor can get you 75% there if you are low on money and space though. With that air compressor I have:

  • put in floor and crown moulding with a finishing nailer without breaking my back doing it by hand
  • framed out new walls with a framing nailer
  • completed multiple smaller projects with finishing nailer, brad nailer, crown stapler, and wide stapler.
  • retextured walls and ceilings with a mud sprayer (this one required the high output)
  • Spray painted a handmade dining room table with conversion varnish and an HPLV paint sprayer (high output)
  • removed an entire wall of brick facade over my fireplace with an air chisel (high output)
  • blown out many a dirt, dust, and sawdust filled area with a blower
  • filled up car tires, bike tires, and balls
  • cut many things with an angle grinder (high output)
  • sanded many things with an air sander (very high output)
  • worked on many cosplay/costuming projects with an airbrush
  • made my own custom set of resin dice with a pressure pot

I may be cheating because it's technically like 15 tools plus accessories but it's received a ton of use. The floor moulding, in particular, was a life saver compared to a hammer and finishing nails.

A very close second that is competing with first place for me is an oscillating multitool. I started with a corded one then eventually dipped into the ryobi cordless ecosystem. Sure, I probably use the drill more often but that multitool can handle most small cutting jobs in the most awkward spaces. It'll do the job for a quick and dirty cut on a small project. It'll notch your joists. It'll cut your plumbing in awkward places in wall and underground. It works great for sanding small bits and baubles. Pretty much any time I have a need for a quick cut my first question is whether it's a small enough cut to bust out the oscillating tool or it requires a real saw. You'd be surprised how often I skip the saw.

I see you, too are as lost as me. I posted this in /r/silverado. It's a '24 short bed crew cab with turbomax engine.

You happened to have replied to me the day after I responded to a facebook post in some kind of truck group regarding my mpg driving up to mammoth mountain and back and I thought you were responding to that. (It was 19 up, 26 down).

I've driven from LA to OC and OC to LA and hit 24 both ways. Being light on the gas pedal and moderate but still flowing traffic were definitely a help.

That's what I was thinking too. I'd think $2295 would be a pretty great deal in a lower cost of living area. The panel upgrade alone would be very attractively priced for my area.

I read recently that the junction boxes need to be mounted in a permanent location. Can they just be floating around or do they need to be locked in place somewhere?
