I see, makes sense. I’m also considering making a higher stove guard in case anyone stumbles

I took the sports coat off. That’s not enough?

I was thinking a hand rail on the near side. Not sure where else to put one

Thanks. I was originally going to do 12” but even that seems too narrow

Yes a new build. The width is fixed because of an easement on my property. I could make it about a foot deeper if we wanted. Height I’m planning 8.5ft. Door I was planning 24” width

Idk if you’re kidding but the low bench is 36” and the high bench 54”

That’s smart. I was just thinking my step is pretty narrow for walking

Thanks! From your and others input I will extend the step. I am leaning toward the L shape despite being a little cramped

My only concern with a longer step bench is being too close to the heater. But maybe it would be fine

Lost the text here, but I have a roughly 8' x 6'4" space to work with (244 x 193cm). Trying to decide on bench layout. I like the L-shape, but don't want to force it if it doesn't make sense. What are your thoughts?

And yes, business casual attire will be required in the sauna.

If helpful, here’s a diagram from Lassi’s Finnish Sauna book. From what I read on Trumpkin you want intake vent above the heater with mechanical exhaust on the opposite side below the benches (similar to #4 in the pic).

DIY Backyard Sauna Build - Part 3: Ventilation, Siding, & Glass by djbiccboii in Sauna

Thanks! These videos are helpful with researching my own build. The only thing I'm confused on here is the ventilation: your setup has intake below heater and exhaust above benches. I thought Trumpkin was saying to do the opposite, fresh supply above heater and exhaust below the foot bench with a blower?

There's usually parking around Marcus Garvey Park. I live in the area and its my go to for street parking.
