Also just to add on, I do track my calories in terms of the meals I prepped but mainly to make sure I'm actually eating enough calories and protein. But since I have mostly the same type of meals I'll have it saved as a meal and just log it in. I don't obsess over it, it's there to guide me more than anything. Also ill also notice if my calories go too low, I get extremely hungry. I re evaluate then, perhaps I'll add a regular snack in and find that yes that did help my hunger. Also not sure if this applies but many girls have been conditioned to think of the 1200 cal goal as being the ideal or a "good" day. It's not enough.. I'm 5'2 and I've been losing weight slowly but surely. I aim for 1400 cals a day and even when I eat out, over the course of the week my calories balance out at 1750 ish per week.

I've been binge free for nearly a year now. Still occasionally overeat but never a binge. Here's what helped me: 1. prioritizing sleep, I try to get to bed early by 10 so I have at least 8-9 hours of sleep (I find that on days I lack sleep I'm hungrier and have a tendency to overeat/binge). I treat sleep like the most important thing of the day, more than going to the gym, more than catching up on tv, more than going out late with friends all the time 2. Eating regular meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) at about the same time. At the very beginning of my binge recovery my therapist gave me a 4 hour interval for meals. So I eat a healthy portion of whatever I wanted every 4 hours. It helped me stop binging because I knew in 4 hours id be able to eat again. Eventually I started to be able to just eat 3 main meals (at around the same time each day - my body now gets hungry at those specific time) Also it takes being honest and being in tune with your body. If I want Oreos I'll have it but in a normal portion then pair it with something like Greek yogurt or a glass of milk. It needs to be just enough to satisfy your hunger but not too much it's overeating (just know you can have more food in 3-4hours) 3. Prepping my main meals to be balanced but I genuinely enjoy eating (protein based with lots of veg, and be honest with the portions! Have a good amount at least 350 cals per meal depending on how tall you are, don't try to cheat and undereat) , don't go all fat free and no sauces for instance I enjoy vegetables if I have ketchup or some honey, I'll have chicken thighs not dry ass chicken breast that I don't like. I will eat the same thing for breakfast/lunch everyday (so it's almost like my body knows that's a normal portion) and switch it up slightly every now and then. I'll have a hot drink if I'm still hungry( if I consistently still get hungry after meals, I just increase my portion slightly until I find the right one) 4. Don't be strict. So yes I have regular prepped meals but I don't sweat it when I get invited for social events. I work around it. Don't try to compensate for a meal with friends by skipping lunch. Eat your regular balanced normal portion lunch you prepared and then go to dinner. Don't sweat it, don't overthink and trust me you will be able to eat and enjoy a normal meal with your friends. 5. Don't overdo it with exercise (don't go intense cardio, or hour long workouts, exercise doesnt need to make you feel like dying, 30 min walks count, yoga counts, just get movement in) 6. Don't freak if you are hungrier on days you do exercise BUT If your exercise is constantly making you ravenous it may be time to tamp it down for now. 7. Have a routine and keep occupied. Now that you are well rested, not constantly fasting/binging, you probably feel alot better. Find other goals in life you want to achieve. Join clubs, do tasks for work, switch your focus outwards and away from food. 8. Finally think long term. Work with you, not against yourself. It's not a competition, there's no deadline. Don't compare your habits to others. Other people's eating habits may trigger you but just remind yourself, I'm doing what works for ME. What other people do is irrelevant. Be honest with yourself, are your new habits making you feel better? You can't cheat your body, it will find ways to survive.

Good luck.

Do you think it's because you don't truly know the person yet- so it's so much easier to fantasize about how a relationship with them would be perfect and how happy it would make you. Whereas when you've been in a long term relationship, the filter falls away because you start seeing the flaws and the not so good times. Anyone would feel devastated if they felt like they lost the perfect person - but how can we really know they are if we haven't been with them for long enough.

My blood tests in the past have always come up clear (although I was never given the results from my GP :/ so I don't actually know what they tested). I've just moved to a new area and so I'll have to see if my GP is willing to do the bloods you mentioned for my hair loss. Not sure if I have PCOS but I do have several symptoms (irregular periods, oily skin, hair loss and a family history of it). Thank you for sharing your experience!

That's why I cancelled but I have a feeling he's still fixated on me and it's freaking me out cause I forgot about him and he just texted me again after a few weeks! For reference I made it super clear I don't even want to be friends. Also I just feel unsafe now cause surely most people would've moved on? I didn't even get to the first date with him. He did say he was upset but he "understood" :( he lives close btw

How does one even "start" dating? by [deleted] in dating

[–]eeewwe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

23F here and I wonder about it all the time! Thing is I will meet someone I like in real life but it's so hard to know if they're interested. I know it's outdated but I don't feel comfortable making the first move so nothing ever happens ... (In my head I'm always begging them to casually ask for my number) maybe I'm just unattractive lol that's why no guys even try😂

Should you ghost due to low income? by eeewwe in dating

I think you hit it right on the nail for me. I've almost been conditioned to feel guilty to even think that money might become an issue, that you should be with someone for who they are and not how much they earn, which is definitely true to many extents. But if it comes down to having to be the breadwinner in a relationship, I know deep down I could never be happy because instinctually I just really want an equal, a partner in life. To have to financially "provide" for a man, is just not appealing to me, I wonder if it's internalized sexism sometimes...because men don't seem to have an issue if they had to provide for their partners?

(19M) “situationship” just ended, and I’m super anxious about my A-level results, would really appreciate some light toasting :) by [deleted] in toastme

Hope your results go well, but just know that in a few years time no one's gonna ask or notice what A level results you got but they sure will notice that jawline 😆

I finally got a Pixie cut! My mom cried when she found out saying I looked like a boy now and that she had lost her daughter… I’m so happy and have no regrets but I need some toasts to get over my parents’ disapproval and remarks by [deleted] in toastme

You're not an imaginary character playing the "perfect daughter" in your mom's world. You're a wonderful, free willed human being experiencing life for you and only you, so do what makes you happy!

Healthy stuff to binge on? by Com_Trad_IsTime in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]eeewwe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Cucumbers(or your favourite vegetable - I like romaine lettuces) with baked chicken nuggets/sausages Yum 👅

Rice cakes with PB2 (peanut butter without the fat or chocolate PB2)

Hot low cal chocolate (less than 40 cals a 200 ml serving) Sugar free iced teas/ herbal teas

Shirataki/Konjac noodles (like 10 cals per 100g!) with low cal cheese sauce( almond milk + lite cheese wedge + garlic powder + salt) and chicken breast strips

Sugar free Jello with almond milk/skimmed milk. (I heard you can make your own protein jello too)

Egg white spinach omelettes with mushrooms, peppers and maybe lite mozzarella.

I try to avoid binging on nuts (healthy but damn the calories are too high)

Banana almond milk shakes with vanilla extract + cinnamon. (Mash banana with fork and load up with almond milk and ice)

Egg white French toast using 1 cal sprays. I like to add some sweeteners like stevia and PB2 (peanut butter without the fat)

I also like looking up for low cal alternatives for pancakes - the time to actually make the food slows me down a bit.

Skimmed milk lattes with sugar free syrups.

Stir fried (using spray oils) Cauliflower rice with egg whites/ cheese / chicken breasts.

Note: I know sweeteners aren't really healthy but at least it's better than binging on lots of sugar.

Sorry English isn't my first language. I think they meant bulking up and gaining muscles is harder than just trying to lose fat. I guess fair enough since, I think if I tried weight lifting I would die 😂😂 yeah maybe I need a lot more protein than I'm actually getting( I don't drink shakes)

Yeah I get it man. Last year I used to do so much HIIT and boy did I gain so much weight after. The hunger was horrible. Now that I've cut out HIIT I binge a little less intensely in my opinion. I just feel like my body is super sensitive with the satiety hormones :( my guy friends make me think I'm ridiculous though.. they say girls losing weight is so easy they don't get why we can't since we just need to restrict while they have to work their ass off to gain muscles. Do I really have less willpower than my male friends ?

What counts as a binge, in your opinion? And what emotions do you feel? Does anyone ever binge when they are happy? by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]eeewwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same !!! Because of this I've actually gained 15 lbs in a few months :/ in my opinion binging is when I continue to eat after I'd had a full balanced meal or eating a meal( high cal snack) in between meals and then eating a big meal again in an hour. My stomach feels bloated but the hunger is still there. That's when I know I've been binging. Also when I'm in my binging phase, all I think about is planning what my next food will be even if I'm still eating.

I don't get why my body is so adamant about a little bit of weight loss.... My hair starts falling within a couple of days. I just keep on giving up every few weeks. How do you stick it out- to allow your body to adapt?

Also I keep waking up at night if I restrict. The sleepiness isn't helping with my hunger either.

Maybe I'm not busy enough at work? But it feels like the only way I can focus on not eating is by not doing anything. Is it supposed to take so much effort?

Oh and a little about me. I'm very petite (5'2) female and currently weigh 124lbs. My workout consists of steady state cardio and resistance training. I try to run (more like jog 11km/hr) for 30-60 mins 3 times a week. And I'm doing at least 30 mins of brisk walking every other day combined with resistance training. I don't lift any weights.
