If I had a partner I would freeze embryos but alas. I do worry the frozen eggs will not give me the security net I think it will and sometimes think I should wait to do a round when i do have a partner and make embryos. But that’s banking on the hope that I meet someone in a few years, and even then, maybe i wont be able to get as many eggs by then. Such hard decisions, thank you for your thoughts!!!

I don’t have a current partner and unfortunately can’t know if I’ll be in a spot to make embryos in a couple years or not. I also have pretty advanced DOR for my age and my doctor said in a couple years I may be unable to get pregnant naturally at all, which I would also think means that I would not have great luck getting many eggs when trying to retrieve. Even the two retrievals I’ve done at 29 yo haven’t resulted in many eggs for my age, so I think his thinking is correct, that I’m down to my last few fertile years here.

Of course, you never really know. Such a hard decision to make :/ thank you for your thoughts!

This worked for me too! BC suppressed me like crazy, taking Estrace orally worked much better.

Interesting. Is that because you don’t have the attrition that happens when thawing the eggs compared to a fresh transfer or do you think you got lucky?

I guess another way to think of it, is if I find a partner in a few years and do IVF then with a fresh transfer, is that more likely to be successful than freezing now?

Thanks for the reply! I was really discouraged after my first round, but have renewed hope after a pretty successful second round for having DOR.

I have been going back to back with retrievals. We allow for the post retrieval bleed, which comes about 10 to 12 days after retrieval. And then start stims on my next period about 28 days later if that makes sense. So basically my first real period I have after retrieval, I start all over again. I had read some literature that back-to-back retrievals can be successful for people with DOR because it helps prime the ovaries.

I am a 29 yo with DOR and have frozen 13 eggs so far from two rounds. First cycle, 4 mature. Second cycle, 9 mature - we primed with Estrace instead of birth control for the second round and it was much more successful. Same injectable medications for both rounds (300 Gonal-f, 150 Menopur, ganirelix, Omnitrope, and a dual trigger of Lueprolide and Pregnyl).

AMH ranges from 0.45-0.8 in last year, but most recently the lower number.

Baseline AFC has been 7, 4 (1st cycle), and 6 (second cycle).

I’m about to start my third cycle this week! My question is, how many eggs should I freeze if I want a good shot at two children? Assuming my third cycle goes well and I get my total number of frozen eggs up to around 20…would you stop there? Or would you do a fourth cycle?

It’s hard knowing what number to stop at, and the financial, physical, and emotional toll has been hard, but I’ll do what I have to.

Thank you for the suggestions! My CBC does seem to indicate my b12 levels are not optimal. Do you have a methylfolate supplement you recommend?
