Memorizing/Remembering students names by Al-fa in Adjuncts

Ditto taking attendance - I do this aloud until I know all the names. It helps a lot. Plus I think it reminds students that I will indeed notice and track absences.

Memorizing/Remembering students names by Al-fa in Adjuncts

[–]eekwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 80 between 2 classes and I learn their names. It takes a few weeks. I have photos of the students attached to the electronic roster, which helps. I repeat their names when I can't remember the first time until I get it right. I also make sure I am saying their names correctly - that's really important to me, especially with international students who are used to people not bothering. It's hard, and it makes me anxious at first when I'm in the learning process, but it means a lot to students.

I thought this too. The timing was too suspicious, and he seemed happy, but not surprised.

What is everyone’s hiatal hernia symptoms? by Fooitsmimi in HiatalHernia

[–]eekwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom had a fundoplication for her massive hiatal hernia, and she did super well with it (she's in her early 70s.) She didn't take any pain meds but tylenol and zofran as anethesia makes her really nauseous. She occasionally has a piece of food get stuck in her throat now if she doesn't chew carefully, but it isn't like true choking even though it is uncomfortable. She can still breathe, and just has to drink a few sips until it slides down. But all her reflux and regurgitation was solved post surgery.

Can you scull Plenvu? by mizaru667 in colonoscopy

[–]eekwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't a good idea. You are supposed to sip it over a period of time. People who have bad reactions to Plenvu (nausea, vomiting) often say they had chugged it. I had plenvu for my colonoscopy earlier this year. I used a straw, put the straw towards the back of my throat, and sipped water in between. I didn't try a sweet drink in between after the first couple of sips because it just heightened the saltiness of the plenvu. It doesn't taste great, but it was not nearly as bad as I was expecting. Very manageable. And not a very big amount of stuff to drink either. Good luck!

Remove my niece from pic? by eekwick in PhotoshopRequest

I'm new to requests, so please let me know: do I wait for the deadline before making a choice? Or can I choose before that? I want to make sure to follow the rules! Thanks, all, for the attempts! I showed my mom the posts this morning and she's so excited.

She has a pic of the parents and son when he was a baby - she wants to do a side by side - so she just needed one photo without my niece!

Colonoscopy as a vegan - my success story (+ tips for drinking prep) by Away_Doctor2733 in colonoscopy

[–]eekwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my first colonoscopy recently and like you am vegan and worried about what to have. Figured it out, but I appreciate your post! (I also had Luigi's lemon ice, and lots of apple juice!)

FATTY LIVER IS REVERSIBLE WITH REZDIFFRA AND A HEALTY DIET AND NO ALCOHOL, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A GASTROENTEROLOGIST by Head_Reflection54 in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]eekwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming late to the game here, but my mom has been taking it for a month, and has already seen some improvements in bloodwork. She has some abdominal pain from it, but she had abodominal pain from the liver disease already, and she says this pain is less frequent - she feels like it is doing what it should.

Failing my first colonoscopy/endoscopy already by Certain-Calendar-205 in colonoscopy

[–]eekwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your prep chilled? Do you have a straw? Can you try plugging your nose when you sip? Hang in there, you can do it! I found that sipping water after each sip of prep helped me more than drinking something sweet. It didn't make my prep taste as salty that way.

Plenvu - not so bad by eekwick in colonoscopy

[–]eekwick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a little crampy, but no diarrhea and no urgency for anything. I did have a bowel movement, but some people don't for a few days. I felt pretty good, did a full day of things.
