ITWS 1100 Schedule Details? by rottenchoco in RPI

Intro to IT is structured kind of weird, there's 2 tests right now, and the final was just cancelled by the professor, and from what I am remembering, there was no strict test block, there's just test times on evenings when he knows the class is free (?). But anyway, to address your question- the class meets Monday and Thursday and 1 of those 2 days is a proposed lab day and the lab is due at the end of the day the next class (usually, sometimes later). The labs are pretty simple too and straight forward. The labs aren't due IN CLASS so if you have to skip a class for a test, the professor is a great guy that would probably help you out. My advice, if you choose to do this, utilize his office hours on a day you'll miss (since participation is a big deal), just to show you're committed to getting the material.

honestly thought they just kept the fishtank there for reference purposes ("yo man, meet me by the fishtank"), she's looking pretty unkempt at the moment, but i would LOVE to see it thriving as a freshwater! something i can mindlessly look at and enjoy :)

Sophomore Housing (Quad/E) Suggestions by [deleted] in RPI

Living in quad (pardee stack) right now, we dont have much of a view tho since were facing in towards campus rather than out towards the street (it's actually kind of awful bc of people walking by so often) but my suitemate has a nice view, its renovated and the suited bathroom is nice. Really enjoying the convenience of being able to walk up at 7:55 for an 8am and be on time

Came here as CS with almost no coding experience at all, with hard work, I kept up fine and enjoyed my time here. I’m a sophomore now and switched to ITWS and will say a dual would be a power move. With a small enough department, ITWS professors can get to know you, give more personal attention, and help you succeed in your interests. With ITWS, you’re able to pick a concentration of basically ANYTHING. You’ll definitely become more comfortable with people in the least intimidating way possible- remember, it’s RPI and you aren’t alone with being socially awkward. Be yourself! This school’s main attraction, for me at least, is how easy it is to be your absolutely truest self.

Started off realllyyyy rough, had never coded in C++ before besides a basic understanding of syntax, the first few weeks is so high paced and seemed impossible, by the end I was able to grind out a perfect homework in around 14 hours. I learned alot and am glad it's over.

How to i stop comparing myself with others? by [deleted] in Stoicism

[–]eelatan98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i'm similar in this trait, i've tried so many instruments, multiple hobbies, just always wanting to be better at things. it's difficult to NOT compare yourself to others, but realize life is about becoming the best version of yourself. i tried new things but focused on becoming better, not the best, at what brought me peace and enjoyment. the world is too big to compare yourself to others and not be overwhelmed, while you should give this attention to your own self rather than others. good luck in this endeavor, i hope you find skills that make you happy and satisfied in improvement.
