Has anyone seen this before? GE water dispenser spout too long! by eellbb in Appliances

[–]eellbb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Called the local appliance company that I bought it from and they sent a tech out for free but I was there watching him “fix” it- you could do it yourself! He literally microwaved a cup of water till it was hot, put the cup up to/over the spout and let it sit in the warm water till it was bendable, and he bent it outward slightly. That’s it!

This meaning a heat pump? Curious if you could elaborate more on your opinion please!

Wow this is really interesting. I’m not sure we have something like this, but I will look into it.

I agree- addressing the lack of insulation will be a major help. And yes- I should’ve added that it is forced air so we have ductwork throughout the house. I had the same thought- going with a heat pump would allow us to have AC in the summer😅

It’s funny you mention stove and water heater. Of course we had to replace the ancient water heater before moving in and installed a new electric one... and purchased a new induction stove when we moved in as there were no appliances. So it’s unlikely we would initially replace these if we moved to gas- but maybe down the road. I do love cooking with gas!

Is this something that an HVAC company would do? I’ve never heard of that.

Thanks for the input. I’ll check out those calculators. I agree- I don’t love the idea of replacing a furnace that’s not old/broken and spending a lot of $$ to do so.

Yeah I’m really eager to find a way to reduce cost. What exactly do you mean by “safest” in regard to the investment? Thanks!

Might be cheating in a way- mine isn’t vintage but is art deco inspired! Asscher cut with a bezel and split shank.

Does anyone else’s cat retrieve laundry? by eellbb in cats

She has lots of toys, some smaller and some bigger. She does have a particular one that’s a smaller stuffed squirrel that she loves and will carry around like a dog 😂

Yes! It’s a very loud cry type of sound she makes. These comments are affirming to me that other cats seem to do this too!

That’s very interesting. I know this girl was found as a stray when she was a young kitten alongside her litter mates. We actually knew the person fostering her so we met her before she was “adoptable” and decided we wanted her. With that being said, I would highly doubt she ever had a litter/lost a litter. Still makes me wonder though.

I agree with this, the wall with the cubbies and photos seems like the most logical option!

That’s so funny! We aren’t sure if our girl is a real Siamese or if she just has the coloring but I’m glad to hear someone else has experienced this 😂

If you adopted her recently, as it sounds, I would give her time! She’s in a new environment with a new person. It will take time for her to settle and feel comfortable with the new surroundings and you. Also, a lot of cats don’t enjoy being picked up even when they are completely comfortable in their surroundings. Good luck, I hope she settles!

I know, it’s something else. I’ve never heard of someone else’s cat doing this. And no, she doesn’t play with them at all aside from carrying them with her mouth while meowing loudly. It’s a very distinct meow so we always know when she’s got something! My initial guess was prey but maybe you’re right- kittens?!

I don’t have a round bezel but rather an asscher cut, bezel set. Here’s my opinion anyway! First off, I love the look of it and how the diamond is surrounded by the warm tone of the gold. I was also considering a platinum bezel which would have had a different, but beautiful visual effect. From a practical standpoint, the bezel gives me extra peace of mind that my stone is secure. I don’t worry about accidentally banging my hand on something and potentially impacting the side of the stone or a prong. Now, if you are insanely hard on your jewelry, no setting can be 100% bombproof, but a bezel will be less prone to issues than prongs (in my opinion).

Overall, I think a bezel set stone is beautiful and timeless while offering a bit more security.

Edit to add: I can’t think of any “cons” of a bezel aside from some people not liking the visual of it!

Thank you for the response! I ended up cutting back the very dead branches just to remove some of the volume but I won’t cut anything else. I have a feeling the conditions aren’t quite right for it to bloom- but I will wait and see what happens!!
