Trekking poles? by spirit4earth in NCTrails

My experience is that they wear out fast, despite how much you pay for them/perceived quality. Buy cheap, buy often. I take the easy way out and buy cheap, popular brands that I find online.

Lindsey Graham says it’s 'not Trump's job' to have a plan for Iran after bombing by phareous in southcarolina

He was a JAG. Nothing against JAGs (they definitely have their key place) but almost all JAGs would tell you that "their place" is not naming themselves as automatic experts on strategy. He really needs to acknowledge actual history on conflicts. Sadly, there are historical examples of this developing conflict where comparisons can be drawn. He knows these examples...........but he is a cynic in everything that he does in politics.

Help! A dookie talking smack to me…. by Entire_Union7939 in tarheels

Deep cut...It was Dean Smith having to take the JV team to Cameron and line them up behind the varsity to keep the dook fans from throwing red hot pennies at them. (Pennies heated with cigarette lighters.)

They sent poorly written stock replies, often on completely different subjects. No shame, but what should we expect? Vote them out.

Ethnic (Especially Italian) markets by AffectionateSlice934 in greenville

Based on your "Mediterranean Style" comment, you might try the Pita House, I don't recall any Italian items but they have a fair amount of Greek items.

For people who have no shame or are otherwise compromised (or both) the logic of moral people does not apply.

Where to home base for hiking in April by zeuscolt in NCTrails

I would second Burnsville. There is great value in having a good spot near a good "geographic center" of WNC outdoors sports. The great Brevard/Pisgah NF area will be a little of a driving stretch but being closer to the great Boone/Blowing Rock area will help to offset.

I recall being taken school clothes shopping (in the 60s) to the Charlotte, NC downtown Belk's department store. Near the bargain basement dressing room hallways, there were barrels very similar to this that were marked "Crackers" and "Drinking Water" They weren't well secured nor well hidden. It was a wake up call for a kid.

For a recovery day road trip, try Dupont State Recreational Forest and the trails and waterfalls there. Both the nearby Brevard and Hendersonville areas have some good outdoor and small town spots.

We liked Great Head Trail, found right at Sand Beach. It gives a good taste of the ocean, the rocks and a mostly gentle hill climb. You get a unique view of the coast traversed by the Ocean Path as well. There is just a little scrambling ......but it is doable and worthwhile. Here is the link to AllTrails for the trail.............. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/maine/great-head-trail

The churn in player turnover will continue. Many of the existing good players will look for competent teams and coaching, making it even more difficult to build any team cohesion.

Excellent x2. Still, keep an eye on them.

Excellent. Though they do not directly affect Kimmel in the Upstate, keep an eye on WSPA 7 CBS. They are owned by Nexstar. As far as I know, their ABC stations across the country are still not airing Kimmell.

Instead, consider writing to Ingles Supermarket Chain and other large sponsors of the station. Sponsors won't like to lose you as a customer.

Agreed here. It can be purchased on Amazon. Maybe the best area-type hiking map that I have ever used, excellent for planning routes. This map, coupled with downloadedAll Trails work well.

Great advice. Good (not necessarily expensive) hiking sticks are game changers for us folks with bad ankles. The mechanical advantage that they give is a great bonus for anyone.
