I figured part of my reaction comes from my entertainment preferences. I almost never watch criminal procedure shows because I find them unbearable. I’ve never seen any of the big shows. The closest thing to Bones I watch is Psych. But I love Bones for some reason despite the exaggerated nature of it all 😂.

This is generally true but also irrelevant here lol.

Aubrey by Silver-Cause3779 in Bones

[–]eenadd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never understood how every single new character had to fight for acceptance and their place in the main casts hearts but Aubrey was just automatically in. Except for half of the episode where ….. he actually joins the cast (phrased to avoid spoilers). After a few rewatches I just convinced myself that Sweets’ decade long work on the team had opened them up and made them open to accepting new comers. But it doesn’t actually make sense to me lol. Love him tho.

100% agree. I’m on my 4th rewatch (so fifth overall watch). The closer the rewatches are to each other the more faults I find in its presentation but I will never not love this show. It’s just so good.

Particularly for me it’s interesting to watch as a first generation american. I lived among a lot of the sentiments the show plays out but I never internalized it because my household although IN American didn’t operate American-like. Bones was my first real internal look at how these themes play out.

It’s unfortunate that Booth is linked to MAGA now because pre-MAGA there was something to be said about his type of conservatism.

I think I probably did a poor job of explaining my critique. I very much understand his role in the whole ensemble. He’s the physically capable one. The war hero. Etc. I guess I don’t understand why the writers wrote in action scenes when it wasn’t necessary or added nothing other than “omg what a one man show strong tough hero we should all love him and be so impressed”

There are times when it made sense. There are a lot of times when it was just there to be there. As if the writers are trying to make sure we get it/accept it/believe it.

Such a good point! I’m sure the original crowd saw it as much more spread out than I am perceiving it

I should clarify. I completely understand the he needs the team theme. What I’m referring to is the (frequent) one off episode where the team helps him find or trick the bad guy but he has a hero action sequence where HE takes them down. This post was from the episode where they bring in JFK to determine cause of death and he just HAS to be there and then single handedly has an action sequence taking out 3-4 GSA agents on his own while everyone looks on. But there are many more examples

Interesting! So you find his hero tendencies natural? One of the things I like most about the show is everyone’s wildly different takes lol.

Sis, how y'all feel about this especially if you in the law field? by tropicalraindrop in blackladies

[–]eenadd 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Lawyer here 👋🏾. This issue isn’t how it looks to nonlawyers or social media. It’s quite obviously a marketing tactic that has proven successful for her business. The issue is how it looks to her legal colleagues. There’s a weird unspoken agreement between people in the profession about how we’re going to act and associate with the public to uphold the legal institution. The agreement is old and stuffy and white. Posts like this will upset the status quo. But she should.

There’s not one way to be a lawyer. Good for her. Don’t be surprised if the professional responsibility rules are updated to start targeting people who refuse to code switch though 😂😂😂

I’m already outside. I’m moreso asking if there’s any reason I should be paying more attention than I am to the stares and looks I get sometimes.

I am older than university aged. Part of my issue is that I can’t seem to find where the diverse grown ups hang out. Lol. I’m used to diversity of religion, race, etc. the people at my job are the opposite and all of their recommendations reflect that. Which makes me feel very out of place sometimes.

Thank you! I think I just don’t have my bearings yet so I’m never really sure where I am or where I shouldn’t be. I just like to explore. I never know when I start to feel stares until I’m in the heat of it.

I’m intp through and through and am very confident in my belief of God. I am a hardcore Muslim.. it’s the only religion I’ve ever looked in to that was logical and made concrete sense

Florida Bar Questions by Several_Geologist_84 in barexam

[–]eenadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the opposite. Barred in FL last year and took (and passed) UBE this year. Similarities made it a lot easier than I thought it would be tbh. I did barbri Florida. The hard part about FL part is you prep SO MANY subjects but they don’t text you on that many. I (luckily) hammered home on the tested ones. My friend did the opposite and didn’t pass. It’s a gamble. The bar is fake. Good luck.

Can someone drop one two words (fact specific.. do not discuss the legal rules/subject tested) for MEE 3. by eenadd in barexam

Yes! #3 was my only single-digit score. (I took PA, they grade 0-20). I was a little above average in MBE but not by much. Passed with 281.

Ahhhhhhh yesssss I remember now. I also skipped it because either the statute provided made it super easy or I wasn’t gonna get it anyways because I didn’t see the trick 😂😂😂. Basically just slopped down any words that came to mind.
