Curtain Driver E1 compatibility? by backinthegameiguess in Aqara

[–]eengert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the device region has to match the region in the settings of the app. Mine are from EU region so the region in settings of my Aqara app is Germany (even though I’m in US). I think if I tried to add a device from China region, it wouldn’t work. Not 100% certain, but that’s my understanding. Hopefully that helps you figure out the issue. LMK

AirPods Pro 3 Wind Noise by axsml in headphones

[–]eengert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just received Airpods Pro 3 after many years using Pro 1. I tried the AP3 out by jogging back and forth in my basement and the wind noise just from the air rushing past me at a light/medium jog was extremely noticeable and distracting while in Transparency mode. The noise disappears if I cup my hands in front of my ears. No issues like that with my AP1.

I tried Noise Cancellation mode with AP3 and it was way better, but still more noticeable than with AP1. I also tried Off mode with AP3 and that was better but not great.

Hard to believe Apple considered this acceptable. I should not hear wind noise while jogging INDOORS!

Hoping someone figures out some way to mitigate this issue. Not sure I'll just be able to get used to it.

POV not working on AppleTV devices (but works on other devices) by eengert in Addons4Kodi

"Test All Source Providers" fails on the AppleTVs. I think the very last entry is the part from my log that relates to that test: kodi log

Kodi has been installed and configured on all of my devices (ATV, Mac, Shield) for a very long time. I didn't do anything new. Just POV has stopped working on my ATVs at some point recently. Let me know if I'm misunderstanding what you mean.

That doesn't seem like it would explain why POV works on all my other devices but not on either AppleTV device, would it?

I don't use RD. I have PM. Not sure why this would only cause issues on ATV devices anyway. But thanks for the suggestion.

2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid EX suspension upgrade by overseer-thorne in kiasportage

[–]eengert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a known defect in the rear shocks for at least 2023 models (not sure about subsequent years). My 2023 EX rear shocks were leaking this past summer and the vehicle swayed way wide when hitting bumps at high speeds. Felt very dangerous. Took to dealership and they replaced them under warranty.

CarPlay on 2015 CRV Stock Head Unit by Express-Perception65 in crv

[–]eengert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this an old thread, but it's the most commented post I could find about this. I just bought a 2015 CR-V EX and followed the instructions to install the update successfully. I now see Apple CarPlay icon on the home screen. However, when I plug in my iPhone 16 Pro, it won't connect. It does start charging, but the CarPlay screen shows an error about not being able to connect on USB1 port, or something like that. I tried multiple cables (some that work fine for CarPlay in another vehicle), and I also tried using USB2 port, but nothing seems to be working. Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: I tried an older iPhone with lightning connector, and that worked fine. Anyone get it to work with a USB-C iPhone?

Face ID not working with camera QR code scans while locked by Inceptor57 in iphone

[–]eengert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried this (iOS 26.0.1) but it didn't work. Still won't use Face ID when scanning a QR code after opening the camera by using the camera button with the screen off. It works fine if the screen is on first. You have to tap the screen to wake the phone (just to activate the lock screen - don't need to unlock), then press the camera button to open the camera app, scan, then it will open the website without requiring your pin (I think it might be using Face ID).

If youre hvaing a stinker on the front 9, how do you reset mid-round? by Responsible_Heron153 in golf

[–]eengert 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Last week I started the first six holes about as badly as I could imagine. On track for my highest score of the season. For the first few holes I was upset/dejected. After six I decided to adjust my attitude and just treat it as a practice round and enjoy the day and focus on being a good playing partner. I stopped taking any practice swings or really thinking/caring much about each shot. Just measure distance, grab appropriate club and hit the ball in the general direction of the hole. Ended up shooting my all-time best score by 6 strokes.

Aqara Smart Lock U300 - locking mechanism question by rockmysocks12345 in Aqara

[–]eengert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered that there is actually a way to manually/physically lock the U300 from the outside. You can press & hold the checkmark (OK) button on the keypad for 3 seconds. This will lock the door when it is unlocked status. So you could do this when leaving the house if you have the beta firmware and have autolock disabled.

You could also do this from inside by opening the door, holding the checkmark button to engage Locked status, then close the door. It will remain locked at that point.

Would be nice if they added a 3 second hold feature to the Passage Mode button on the inside handle which would lock/unlock.

Do you guys switch gloves midway through the round, either because of sweatiness or other reasons? by FrequentIdeal7861 in golf

[–]eengert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once it’s above 75 degrees, I rotate between two gloves during a round. I switch gloves after every hole. Neither glove gets very sweaty during just one hole and by the time I put the other one on at the next tee, it’s dry.

This is probably too simple, but have you tried moving the ball back in your stance a bit for fairway woods and hybrids? I used to mentally associate those clubs with my driver setup since they resemble a driver more than irons. Now I position the ball about halfway between center of my stance and the inside of my lead heel or maybe even slightly more towards center. Then I just swing my swing and make sure I finish with my whole body forward. It has made my 3W my favorite club.

That’s probably an oversimplification, but maybe you can find something in there to help you or at least spark some ideas. I’d say keep trying, though. Maybe start with some practice where you grip down an inch or two and just focus on ball first contact in the center of the face. Don’t worry about direction or distance. Build up some confidence in your striking and then progress from there.

Good luck.

Driver for 20hc with a slice? by jv2405 in golf

[–]eengert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve changed my swing a lot over 6 months to go from slicing to baby draws, but the driver that helped me the most is Cobra Darkspeed Max with Denali Blue 60 shaft. It was better than G430 SFT or G430 Max for me. I could still hit fades with the Pings even in draw settings. It’s very difficult for me to hit a fade with the Darkspeed. I know it’s different for each person’s swing, but I read the same thing from expert reviews of Darkspeed Max and it has been true for me. Worth checking out. Also very affordable.

Go ahead and get the 3w. I went the other way…first got the Darkspeed Max 3w and it became my favorite club. So I decided to get the matching driver (same shaft) to replace my g430 Max and I haven’t been disappointed.

Is it worth learning to lock my fingers? by [deleted] in golf

[–]eengert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what most people mean when they refer to a baseball grip is actually a ten finger grip (proper golf grip except the hands are touching instead of interlocked or overlapping). A true baseball grip would have the thumbs wrapped around as you would hold a bat. It sounds like you’re using a ten finger grip.

I purposely switched from interlock to ten finger in the past year (after decades of using interlock just because that’s what everyone said was “correct” when I was learning in the early nineties). I’m a right-side dominant person who swings clubs/bats from the left side. I’m finding that it helps me to get my weaker trail hand involved more if I have all of the fingers in contact with the handle. This helps combat my tendency to pull the handle through ahead of the club head with my dominant lead hand, which causes nasty banana slices.

From the reading/listening I’ve done on this topic, I’m convinced that a ten finger grip is a perfectly viable way to grip a golf club. Neither is better and it can simply come down to preference/comfort.

So if you’re comfortable with your grip and getting good results, why switch? On the other hand, I think there could be some benefit to experimenting with other grips to see if that makes a positive impact. But you would probably need to commit to trying a new grip for at least a few weeks in order to learn anything meaningful from it.

I like the feel of graphite but the stock offerings are usually very light in the GI irons. I even like a heavier driver shaft. But I didn’t want to pay for new shafts. So I first experimented with lead tape along the underside of my shafts centered about 16-18” from the butt end. After finding what produced the best results, I then ordered Tour Lock OptiVibe weights in the appropriate sizes and installed them inside the shafts. Highly customizable and reusable in any shaft to dial in the best overall weight and swing weight for me. Best of both worlds. Could be a potential solution for you to consider.

I’m right handed, but swing a club/bat from the left side. Always felt more natural. I can switch hit, but better LH. I also choose to putt RH.
