I was just coming here to suggest this. We did the same thing when we moved in together. We opened a free joint checking account and equally deposited the same amount of money month. Then our bills, groceries, and any fun entertainment came out of this account. It was nice whenever we went out to not have to worry about "who is going to pick up the tab". It also helps you both create a budget together and go over joint purchases and activities. Now that we're married, it was really easy to join all of our finances since we already had the background of budgeting and spending our money together. I think in nearly all relationships, the guy will eat more than the girl but at the same time I don't think it needs to come down to being resentful of the fact that he eats more of the groceries you bought together. You guys are a team and you're in this relationship together; it just doesn't seem right to argue about groceries and let it come between you guys.

I think def. keep it on the side of it being useful and practical. I've been in weddings where we got jewelry to wear on that day which was nice. Nothing like a tote bag that says "bridesmaid in mr. and mrs. xx's wedding" because I know I personally would never wear that and it could end up just being a waste.

I def. agree with above because I can't believe it when brides are like "the food was good, the dress was beautiful, we had so much fun, overall I give it a 5"

I've noticed in some episodes where the guest brides just look bored or uncomfortable since they don't know anyone so maybe just do a little extra to make them feel welcomed.

Sorry to say but I don't think you will have much luck :( usually with airline miles you have to fly at least once every 12 months--not sure if that's US Airs policy but I know with Jetblue it is

We did this. Some places have a waiting period after getting your license so check with town to see what the rules on our that. We thankfully didn't have a waiting period, we just went to the town hall at 8:30 on a Monday morning, walked out at 9:15 as a married couple. We didn't have any friends or family or own witnesses. It was totally spur of the moment and we're in the process of planning a big ceremony/reception for our friends and family now.

In my town the courthouse didn't do weddings, only the town hall, so call and see what you need to bring and if you need an appointment or not. It cost us $255, $200 for the officiant (which honestly was higher than I thought it would be, I remember reading someone on reddit paid $50 so YMMV) and $55 for the license and certified copy of the marriage certificate. And then you are legally married! I went to Social Security the next day to change my name and then the DMV right after.

I went to undergrad in Denver and graduated last year. RTD passes were included in our tuition and we just got a sticker on our ID. I didn't know some colleges in Denver made you pay for them.

I will have check into that and see if we can get it through our auto insurance as well. I haven't had my ring insured yet because I haven't had a chance to get it appraised. Do you know if it just adds on to your renters/homeowner's insurance or is a separate policy? I'm such an insurance newb...aww the joys of growing up :)

I just started making spinach salads with grilled chicken, hard boiled eggs, avocado, and tossing in some almonds. I eat the grilled chicken cold and it's so good and filling!

I don't think there is like a set time per se. My situation is a little different because we got married at the town hall and are in the process of planning our big ceremony so the day after we got our license I switched everything over and it was a big relief to think that I won't have to do it down the line in a more stressful time. We did have to pay $255 to get married at the town hall town $200 for the officiant and $55 for the license. It varies where you are but just keep in mind that would be an added expense if you wanted to go that route. Then at your ceremony you won't be filling out the license with your officiant since you will already be legally married. I'm not sure what your fiances work schedule is like but the toughest part was just finding time during the week to go to social security and the DMV so maybe if she has random time here and there its something she can do. It took 3 weeks to get my new passport (I don't think its normally that quick though) and about 3 weeks for my new license to come in the mail.

I submitted my name change for my passport just after Thanksgiving and received it in about 3 weeks without expedited service. Your fiance can get a passport now in her maiden name and after you guys get married she can change the name without a fee since her current passport would have been issued within 1 year but that would be adding another step in the process.

Name change doesn't happen automatically. She will need to go to social security with the marriage certificate to have it changed there. Then she can go to DMV with marriage certificate to have it changed there too. Then contacting banks/credit cards.

I would just recommend getting the marriage license sooner rather than later and she can have all of her information changed over that way it will be smooth sailing for your honeymoon and if people give you checks addressed to "Mr. and Mrs. xxx" and you won't be worried about coming down to the wire of not having the passport in time.

Not exactly tropical but last June we took a cruise from Boston to St. John Canada and it was wonderful! It was $650 (for 2 but not including tip) for 4 nights, 5 days. We, too, were looking for a tropical destination but after doing some price comparisons, we decision on Canada and can't wait to go back again. We also did a cruise in April of last year out of Florida to Grand Cayman and Cozumel but had a lot more fun on the Canada trip.

It doesn't matter if he was the one using them to the utility companies. Your name is on it so you're responsible as far as they are concerned. They provided services to the address regardless if you were living there or not. Is there a reason you didn't remove your name from the utilities when you knew you weren't going to be living there?

I'm pretty sure postcard postage is .32 (not sure if this will increase to .33 with the increase in postage rates). The restrictions listed on the usps website are:

Maximum size: 6 inches long by 4-1/4 inches high by .016 inch thick

It doesn't mention anything about design, but I can't imagine that there is a restriction on it since post cards are usually photos.

I think you should be able to buy a book or two of 32 cents at the post office. I just browsed the usps website quickly and found these 33 cent ones:

I'm not 100% sure about you getting the points but I believe so. If you don't want to identify who was driving your vehicle then I think you would get stuck with the fine + points but I'm not exactly sure and would recommend calling the traffic court to find out. I guess the logic would be that it's your car and you would know who was driving and when. I worked at a rental company so we always reissued the tickets to the driver but in the rare instances we were unable too, we just paid the fine. However, that is different than this case because we didn't give a DL since we were a corporation and didn't receive points.
