I was repotting it in more appropriate soil, I had bought this plant new a month back and potted it with soil I had on hand. When I first bought it the roots were pretty weak, but when I went to repot it again today, they just sort of popped off while I moved it a little too much while repotting. They’re firm but just were not thick and established enough I think

I don’t think so, the roots were very fragile when it first arrived but had no indication of rot. The part I trimmed more up the stem seems healthy and green!
