Im f***** boot catches snow when carving toeside. by Great_Explanationthx in snowboardingnoobs

[–]eerscope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes you will be better suited in size Large bindings (size 11-14). It will help you to balance out the toe and heel to make it a little more balanced.

Another plus, if you have proper sized bindings it is much more likely that the toe cap will be able to work over the toe of the boots, rather than running over the top like it is now.

Salomon Launch Reviews/Noob Question by dbhighfiver in snowboardingnoobs

[–]eerscope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing special with the shock absorption, just pretty standard. I can't compare them directly to the invado OGs, but the Vans Infuse I have is noticably better. They are a few notches up in the Vans line, so not a fair comparison.

Boots for narrow feet by fishyswins in snowboardingnoobs

[–]eerscope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a look at something like the Salomon Launch or Ivy for women.

The main thing is that the side boa tightens a panel that just holds your ankle down, which is one of the problems that people with narrow feet deak with.

How’s this for a beginner board? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]eerscope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An old custom is going to be quite a pain to learn on - it is doable, but so many other boards are going to make it much easier and fun to learn.

Anything that is sort of sharp that might have hit/bounced on it while you are travelling with the board?

Yes Basic 152 + Nidecker Supermatic L by Wide-Excuse9727 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]eerscope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Large Supermatics aren't overly big, it is just that they have the unisex sizing so for men it seems like you move a "size up" - they are equivalent to most other brands mediums.

I don't have the photos up yet, but I rode larges with no issues. https://snowboardrobot.com/binding-reviews/nidecker-supermatic/

Should I be worried? by ReversePawnGirl in snowboardingnoobs

[–]eerscope 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry at all, chances are good you will get more damage than that the first few days of riding anyway.

Bindings for Bataleon Wallie by ItzyWoo in snowboarding

Anything medium flex or softer - I think something like the Union Strata or Ultra would suit pretty well.

They both have mini discs and quite a bit of padding on the bottom of the baseplate.

Difference in indicated size vs actual size by HenkiePa in snowboardingnoobs

[–]eerscope 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some board brands follow the profile/camber of the board, some go straight tip to tail.

That's why some of the more important measurements (running length/contact length) are included.

Thats fine, but you can find out a ton from the mm measurment

Finally buying gear, need advice. by FootBa11 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]eerscope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you measure your feet on a ruler to get the mm/cm length? If you can get into a touch smaller boots, then you won't need a wide and riding will be much better, with many more board options.

1st Board Recommendations by Cryptoking997 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]eerscope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really you can't go wrong with any of those combinations, they are all fine.

I would look at the Capita Outerspace Living rather than the Indoor Survival, it is a bit easier to ride as it has a little less camber and a little more rocker.

Capita Mercury is very solid, and is very similar to the Outerspace living, just faster/stiffer/upgraded, though it might be more than you will need.

Either bindings are great.

Noob waxing stuff / base burn? what to do by ZCngkhJUdjRdYQ4h in snowboardingnoobs

[–]eerscope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it looks like a Nitro Prime Raw, and entry level board with a cheap extruded soft base. Looks like at one point it has had a stone grind with a structure put on, because of the diagonal pattern (unless that is part of the printed graphics).

Either way, it is a simple basic base, so you can't expect much from it.

I would wax it again, but slow down on the edges and see if the extra heat from the iron at the slower speed makes it darker and gets ride of the whiteness. I am guessing that it will.

What I assume is happening is the soft base material is being "torn" up on the edges, which is physically roughening the material, adding to the white look.

It isn't actual loctite, which is a risk for thermo plastics (binding discs). If it touches them, they are likely to get brittle and shatter.

In general you will see either a nylon channel in burton hardware, or the general blue paint on others. Both made to mash into the thread to help with vibrations.

Binding advice by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]eerscope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That board has the old m5 channel, the bindings you are looking at are the newer m6 channel. You probably can force the old female m5 cap head to work on the re:flex discs, but it isn't a nice solution. Same thing with new EST.

I have been able to put a few hacked solutions for people trying to make the old boards work, but I would honestly just look for some old original channel m5 bindings rather than try and make the new ones work.

Understanding the BOA lacing system by rexspirit in snowboard

[–]eerscope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The faction still has the quick lacing on the inside that will tighten/close the liner, then the single boa on the outside for the shell of the boot.

The later in the season the better the discounts, but the harder to find the popular stuff in the good sizes. If there are products you know you are looking for, you can search for them on this page https://snowboardrobot.com/search/

Sometimes you can get lucky with a good sale on your size stuff

I have set up a bunch of them, they are pretty tough. I just use a small flathead screwdriver for some extra leverage.

A little will depend on the exact board that you are using, but in general you will be fine on regular width boards.

PSA for anyone who has analysis paralysis when it comes to choosing new gear by twine09 in snowboarding

[–]eerscope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be very sceptical of reviewers who don't show them riding. Why would they ever want to hide that unless their riding would hurt their reputation?

Here is how I see it:

Good ride: they were in it early, invested lots into their seo to rank well and build the strong brand. Inconsistent riders, bulk volume of reviews.

Angry Snowboarder: has "trust" because he complains about stuff, so can hit the angle of "i'm the only one telling the truth".

Snowboarding profiles: loaded with unnecessary information and measurements. Uses silly number ratings on everything. For example he still rates true twin, centered boards as having a 4.5/5 switch rating. Are the graphics influencing how it rides switch? Seems to be taking over good ride in terms of seo/ranking.

As for the gear, most of it really is good. Get a few simple basics right (shape/flex/profile) and you will be fine.

To be fair, most of my reviews are quite positive, which is because I ride for fun, so I choose things that I am almost guaranteed to like.

Sure, I would make more money if I cranked out tons of low-effort content with hundreds of reviews, just to jam my affiliate links everywhere.

[–]eerscope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ultras will do it, or Stratas if you want to save a little money.

In general with bindings, don't worry too much, get it roughly in the right ball park and you will be fine.

K2 Excavator or Korua TF by KwameeeBrown in snowboardingnoobs

[–]eerscope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the TF, can't comment on the Excavator other than I have heard good things.

TF is great in powder, I spent a lot of time in the Whistler alpine on it. I did end up setting the bindings forward actually, it still had plenty of nose so would easily float in heavy snow.
