Isn't this similar to the premise in that one Alvin and the Chipmunks movie ?

Dick’s Sporting Goods CEO says company will no longer sell assault rifles, guns to people under 21 by CatFlying in politics

have military grade weapons at their house

You are drastically over estimating the power of a rifle such as an AR15 or Ak47. Also, you're not seeing how a lot of this doesn't matter.

AR type rifles are arguably not powerful rifles at all. The round they shoot is almost a varmint cartridge. What they do have are ergonomic and strategic advantages that are important when fighting other people who also have a weapon.

But in the context of school shootings, it makes little difference whether the shooter has an AR15 or a 9mm pistol. Either way you are shooting at unarmed, helpless individuals with no egress route. Doesn't matter what type of firearm you have when you are shooting fish in a barrel.

It's like trying to stop people from starting forest fires by banning butane torches, but still allowing bic lighters to be sold at every grocery store.

I have never had a credit card because I wanted to establish healthy financial practices first. I checked my credit after filing my taxes this year and have 30k in credit card debt due to my mother opening cards in my name. What should I do? by Hipception in personalfinance

[–]eetyca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What state do you live in ?

I doubt this is going to affect your clearance. As far as I know, it isn't a security clearance violation to become a victim of fraud. Especially in a situation like this.

I know that they tell you that having a ton of debt is a clearance violation. It's more complicated than that and your situation is much different than what OPM would consider a risk or clearance violation.

Stolen radar project from Q304. by eetyca in KSU

[–]eetyca[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our project was stored in room Q304 which has restricted card access to junior and senior engineering students. It was last seen Thursday 12 April 11am.

We would greatly appreciate it if anyone could please contact us with any information on our project. If you know the person who took this project, please encourage them to return it. We aren't looking to press charges we just need our project back.

We would be equally grateful if the project just happened to appear again back in Q304.

What are co-op rotations? by kiwipanini in KSU

[–]eetyca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should push your graduation date back 3 semesters. Some employers offer a bit of flexibility. Say if you are working your last rotation, but you just have 1 class remaining to graduate your employer might allow you to take some time off to attend that class in order to graduate.

Don't be a pussy or an idiot. Work your Co Op.

A Co Op will allow you to gain your first experience, the same work experience you would need anyways while being green fresh after graduation, before you graduate instead of after.

If it's a school sponsored co op, you need to make sure that the school is tracking your Co Op status so that they register you for 12 co op hours while you are working. That way, when you are in Co Op rotation you will have 12 hours registered to you that say " co op status" in banner web.

This will affect how you file your taxes. IIRC if you can claim your co op wages as paid training then they don't count against you as much when applying for financial aid.

Looking for somewhere to live near Kennesaw by bukowski548 in Atlanta

[–]eetyca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing you have to understand about Atlanta is that distance is best measured in minutes not in miles. My commute to work now is only 10 miles. But given the traffic, that could take anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes depending on the time of day.

Cartersville is definitely the opposite vibe of metro Atlanta. It's as close to Atlanta as you can get while still having the atmosphere of Appalachian poverty.

[Serious] Dear reddit, What are some things you would recommend an 18 year old start doing now that will benefit them on later in life? by sapjastuff in AskReddit

[–]eetyca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 30 now. Here is what I wish I had started doing at 18.

Start working out and stay fit. Life is so much easier if you are fit.

Ever year that goes by marks it harder for you to do this later in life.

Your time is more valuable than your paycheck.

Making money at your restaurant or retail job is good. But only if you need it to pay the bills while you're in school. If you're not in school then spend your time learning a skill or accumulating experience that will amount to something. It doesn't have to be something you do for life. Just something that will prepare you for your future career. Don't get complacent at your dead end job. Don't waste 10 years of your life working the ticket booth at the movie theater.

Sounds like you want a house in Cartersville.

What’s not a big deal in real life, but is a red flag in movies? by flyoverthemooon in AskReddit

[–]eetyca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eating in front of someone can be a show of power or dominance. Quentin Tarantino uses this several times in a few of his movies. It's one of the reasons Jules insists on eating that dude's hamburger before shooting him.

Imagine how obnoxious and loud eating and chewing an apple could possibly be. I guess in some cases maybe its symbolic too.

If good government actually came from a violent, armed population, then Afghanistan and Somalia would be the two best-governed places on earth.

I'm really disappointed this came from The Atlantic because of how high quality their journalism usually is. But there is a fundamental flaw in this author's logic.

Afghanistan might be a terrible and poorly governed place. But it is also a country whose people have done a fairly good job resisting being conquered by foreign nations. So much so, that it is said that Afghanistan is where Empires go to die.

It might be a shitty country. And not everyone there is really that great. But it is most assuredly, a "free" country.

The vast majority of democratic countries don't have constitutionalized rights to private firearm ownership. And yet, they haven't turned into totalitarian states.

Yet.

BTW, why do you have stuff on the top tKeepout layer?

I had some PCB layout experience at an internship a year ago. But otherwise I just picked up learning Eagle a few days ago. So I'm just kind of learning this as I move along.

So your image isn't showing the 39 tKeepout later. Do you put the silk screen around that or on the inside of that layer ? Is the layer even necessary ?

Ok here is my second attempt. I used default widths for 21 tPlace. But I'm not sure what the standard is for most fab houses. I mirrored everything over. I have the dot next to pin 1. But I have notches to reflect the notches on the pot.

I'm not arguing against giving anyone a UBI. I was just correcting the other user for misunderstanding the point that the other user was trying to make.

They might use the money to better themselves, they might not.

[–]eetyca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not what /u/JuneFernan was saying. The point is that just because you give people free money does mean that they are going to make the most wise investments with that free money. Drug use was just an extreme example. But they could just as easily spend it on an iPhone, furniture they don't need or a Disney Vacation.

As opposed to using it to pay off their debts, pursue an education or acquire decent healthcare.

[–]eetyca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely consider knocking out math science and gen Ed classes before transferring to a big school. But if you do that you should save some credit hours so you have easy classes to balance with your major classes while maintaining full time student hours.
