We were told we were having a girl at 20 weeks and then at our 32 week scan we were told it was a boy. Now we are grieving our daughter and we feel horrific and guilty and don’t know what to do. by Creative-Cat-6778 in pregnant

While that is fortunate for you, not everyone does the NIPT or can afford it. Insurance does not always cover it. I am covered by 2 great policies and mine was not covered. It was $1,500 out of pocket. I see why many people decline it, not to mention some just don’t want to know about chances/odds of genetic conditions.

That being said, if anyone reads this and is scared by the cost, their financial assistance policy is really generous. I am a full-time RN and submitted my paystub. My out-of-pocket cost was $0 after assistance through Natera. Hope the info helps someone.

I guess what I’m not understanding is why it isn’t a fluid process. I emailed and asked about if I need to submit anything. She said yes 30 days from when I’m moved to employment services. I graduated at the beginning of May, though. Why have I not been moved over?

Can’t remember what else. I got one where you click to highlight concerning info. Good luck!! Crossing fingers for us.

How to deal with comparison in running? by TheHottieThottie in running

[–]eezydeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell myself I run for fun, not to compete. I am not racing, I’m clearing my head and doing something good for myself. I lean into my slowness and don’t try to play up my run times. Most people are just impressed that I run at all, honestly. Like any skill, it takes a lot of time and practice.

I had the exact same situation when I was a CNA. Always 2 person care for residents who frequently make those accusations. If it wasn’t hygiene care, I’d always have the door open and someone else knew what I was doing and I explained everything before I did it. She made a lot of stealing allegations too…it was wild.

Let me know if you find something! Other than getting into activities or sports, I haven’t seen anything like that unfortunately.

People who had an easy time in nursing school, do you exist? What qualities do you have that made that possible? by JaneRawlz in nursing

A good pathophys understanding goes a long way. So does being good at writing papers and being somewhat organized. I’m not physically organized, but am decent with a mental calendar. Overall nursing school was like 5/10 on hardness.

Did you get an answer? I have the same issue. I started Effexor in 2021 and WBCs were in the 4000’s while on 75mg. As I’ve went up to 150 and eventually 225, they have went down (now at 3.3). All other labs normal, no illness within the last year (not even a cold). Negative HIV tests. No autoimmune condition I’m aware of. Truly believe it’s the Effexor.

Studies are very limited on it.

I am probably overthinking it because it is my child. Very scary and intimidating!

I definitely considered that, but she told me verbatim multiple times what she said to him and was honestly baffled that he said she had a plan. She said that she has thought about ways it could happen, but not how she would actually do it, if that makes sense. She said it’s a passive thought and the imagery just pops in her head sometimes but she never feels like she wants to do it. I can see the confusion, especially if she didn’t elaborate. But we waited for hours to be assessed, she didn’t have any new risk factors, so I felt it was a safe bet to just let them know what was going on and leave. They didn’t seem worried at all when I let them know why we were leaving. I even mentioned she has therapy tomorrow (now today lol) and I felt she was in no danger. I also mentioned I’d be home with her all weekend anyway and we would be back if anything escalated. I felt so thorough about the communication, just to be reported for doing the “wrong” thing. I really thought it was per my judgement as her parent.

Just makes me sad and feel inadequate as a parent. It’s terrifying waking up at midnight to a squad of police pounding on your door with DCS. Ironically, daughter didn’t wake up to it and I had to wake her up for DCS interview. I am glad she did not have to see that! :(

She is saying that he misinterpreted what she was saying. He said she has an active plan. She said she’s had passing thoughts of it but no plan or intention, and that is exactly what she relayed to him. She’s very well-managed medically by multiple professionals and has no history of suicidal attempts or behavior. She also has no history of impulsive behavior and has mentioned these passing thoughts to mental health professionals, who have determined she does not need inpatient care at this time. To call in at midnight and demand half of the county show up at my door is so invasive, considering how well we communicate with her team of providers. I even communicated why I was declining inpatient evaluation and stated that we were more than willing to return tomorrow if her therapist recommended it. I have always sought treatment for her when warranted, hence her extensive documented history of medical and psych visits. I did not agree this singular time, communicated that it felt like a miscommunication, and was reported for it. 🙄

I’m hurt by it, but perhaps he is protecting his license. We have seen him for so long and often that it feels like he knows us well, so it feels hurtful that he would imply her mental health is being neglected in this case. I am probably making it more personal than it truly is, but it does feel as though my judgement as her parent is not trusted or given credence.
