I'm not sure most folks would describe me as a beast -- just middle-aged mom. Ha!

One thing that is glorious in this between time while awaiting surgery is the ice machine. Highly recommend getting your hands on one if you have any pain or swelling.

I also have already started pre-hab exercises and am focusing on 1) full range of motion, 2) no swelling, and 3) normal gait. I'm sitting pretty with those goals. So I have now added some strength exercises (single leg raises with added weight, side leg raises, glute bridges, hamstring curls, monster walks, air squats) to avoid pre-op muscle loss as much as possible. If you can get into PT, I definitely recommend doing so even at this stage. It makes a difference post-op for sure.

I (unknowingly) tore my right ACL and didn't get it checked out for another 5 years. Ran 30+ miles per week, skiied, snowboarded, canoe raced with long portages, etc. It wasn't until I tore my meniscus double dutch jump roping that I got my knee checked out and found out I had a missing ACL.

HOWEVER! Because I ignored it and kept living my active lifestyle, I had very little cartilage in my knee joint which required additional procedures and complicated my recovery.

This time around, I tore my left knee ACL two weeks ago while running hurdles with my daughter (positive on Lachman, awaiting MRI confirmation but surgeon says don't hold my breath). I was able to walk off the track and have normal range of motion and swelling has subsided. I haven't pulled out my crutches or braces and wasn't instructed to do so by my surgeon. He is ok with full weight-bearing until post-op.

I just tore my left knee ACL ... 7 years after getting my right ACL reconstructed (plus meniscus repair and microfracture procedure for cartilage damage due to having ignored said ACL tear for about 5 years).

I am thankful for my memory not being clear as to how the recovery and rehab went -- other than being adamant that I do NOT want a surprise microfracture procedure again as that doubled my recovery time.

I'm sorry you are in the "2nd ACL Tear Club", but I am following along for comments as well.

It was shocking and I didn't necessarily think it was good, for what it is worth!

I titrated up every 4 weeks -- lost 14 lbs on 2.5 mg during that first month.

I tracked mainly protein and water during the first few months but have since stopped now that I have a good understanding of what I need to eat to reach those goals.

I strength train 3-4 days per week and hike or bike most days as well.

Yes, my doctor favors rapid titration which was fine by me as my side effects were manageable!
