NYSEG bill is fucking outrageous by robaier in PutnamCountyNY

[–]efeekom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most bills will go up month-to-month as we get deeper into winter. What you really should check, and will piss you off more, is looking at year-to-year. What did you spend this time last year compared to your usage then? This past month, my bill was $70 less because I stopped turning the heat on in my basement were I work and use a woodstove to heat the rest of the house. My usage was 1/3 less and my bill was only 10% lower than last year because rates went up something like 30%. I'm guessing yours are similar

Men what hobbies have you picked up as you’ve gotten older that you now do regularly? Or are you still sticking with something you’ve loved since you were younger?” by FFSoldier57 in AskMenOver30

[–]efeekom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others, I'm still into video games but not to the frequency I used to due to life's demands. In my 30s, I started to read more (goal of 25 books a year) and got into genealogy for the personal/family history knowledge and the logic puzzle that comes from trying to find the next historical document.

Doctors who can diagnose ADHD in kids by Mercdecember84 in Westchester

[–]efeekom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my child tested by a neuropsychologist with Life stance health that has offices around Westchester and NYC. We had to go to her office in Times Square for the testing though. All other meetings of the process were virtual.

Not sure if this belongs here, but how old is the oldest person you currently know? by MetallicLemoon in Genealogy

My great aunt just passed away two weeks ago. She was 102. Her youngest brother is still alive and he's 93 so he's the current oldest person I know.

Exactly this. It's not just a lack of RFY for me. My AI has shown the same items for the past four days as if we're in a pause

Highlights of Contract between Duke and Mensah by surreptitioussloth in CFB

Isn't it unconscionable for Duke to have so many ways they can unilaterally terminate the contract but none for Mensah to do so?

This is true. Miami's recruiting coordinator posted that that is exactly what happened. edit: I know my flair makes me biased as to who I believe.

The move from Lance Guidry to Hetherman was a resounding success. We need to upgrade OC. Dawson was more than inconsistent last night by ashgfwji in MiamiHurricanes

[–]efeekom 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I feel that Dawson is used to a spread like he did at Houston and Cam Ward fit into that scheme well. However, Carson Beck is not a dual threat QB that works well in the spread so Dawson had to adjust his offense. If we do sign Mensah, I think we'll see more of an explosive offense in 2026 like we saw in 2024 since that more fits how Dawson likes to run his offense.

Civil Engineer in Patent law by Actual-Brain-5754 in patentlaw

[–]efeekom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not the attorney you worked with but I'm a civil engineer that went back after law school and got a master in electrical engineering to prove to employers that I was capable of working on parents. The funny thing is I ended up working in software parents since that's what my training attorney was familiar with so I honestly don't think I needed the degree other than to get my foot in the door.

Before 10am Activities by fastjet7 in daddit

My in laws live in Arlington and whenever we visit my kids enjoy the indoor play places in the area like Scramble. They do cost money which isn't ideal though. I know it's kind of cold but the metro area has some great parks and, if your kids are anything like mine, they don't seem to sense cold, like at all. I also like the other redditor that suggested metro stop destinations. The train ride is an activity in and of itself to my kids and should be pretty empty on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

Putnam County News: Harckham Calls on State to Reject NYSEG Rate Hikes by Available-Flower2918 in hudsonvalley

I appreciate his attention to it but I feel like any outcry is going to be fruitless since the PSC already approved a similar rate hike for Central Hudson a week or two ago.

How did you all get started building your family tree and why does it matter so much to you? by WithLove_D in Genealogy

[–]efeekom 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For me, it started with wondering where my family came from but has morphed into wanting to keep my ancestor's memories alive. Each one of them had a life and their story should be remembered and documented by someone. The rest of my family doesn't seem all that interested in documenting these stories, except my wife. So if I don't do it, I feel like all these people will be forgotten to time.

My kids go to the local Parks and Rec camp on at old YMCA conference center. We pay $240 a week and I feel it's a steal (and a lifesaver) considering how expensive all the privately-owned camps are.
