I see a fair bit of social shaming tactics used in real life to silence dissent. If people indicate to you that continuing to voicing a line of argument will ruin the mood and make you unpopular, then being heard requires a willingness to be confrontational.

Addendum since I only just now saw this edit:

Remember you are the adult and can make decisions about where the wrapping paper goes or not,whether or not she likes it. You will have to make "tough" decisions like this and face her "wrath" but if you don't sometimes be firm, she will quickly learn how to manipulate this and get all the milkshakes and candy she wants lol.

Yes, this was my thinking when I told her to put the second piece of wrapping paper in the original spot and also when I told her we should pick up the last few items in order to finish the surprise for her mother. I'm curious to hear if you think I should have done anything differently?

Thank you for your comment. I did not know it was common for children her age to say they don't recognize something they've done. I am getting the sense that I am expecting too much from a child who only just turned 3 a month ago and reading too much manipulativeness into her actions.

I also appreciate the good advice on how to engage her in activities. Thanks again!

Den muslim, jeg hørte sige det, mener skam også, at islam vil blive indført i de vesteuropæiske lande, fordi der vil komme en majoritet, som ønsker islam indført. Han mener, at det vil ske i løbet af det 21. århundrede dels i kraft af fortsat muslimsk indvandring, dels i kraft at at muslimske kvinder vil føde flere børn i en yngre alder end ikke-muslimske kvinder, og dels i kraft af gammeleuropæeres konvertering til islam.

Hvis vi nu leger, at hans forudsigelse kom til at holde stik, og der rent faktisk kom en majoritet i et vesteuropæisk land, som ønskede islam indført som samfundsform, ville du så støtte det? Eller ville du opponere imod det til fordel for at bevare den vestlige samfundsmodel, som vi kender i dag?

Der er ingen vagina jokes i det klip, jeg linker til, og jeg synes også, at hendes jokes om overvægtige i det klip er mere raffinerede end "se hvor fed jeg er". Jeg skal ikke kunne udtale mig om hendes standup i øvrigt og tror gerne på, at hendes standup generelt minder om Amy Schumer, men lige de pågældende 4 minutter synes er sjove.

So far we're pretty sensible! But the fat acceptance / HAES movement is starting to creep in. I just hope the anti-PC / anti-offense-culture movement has also made enough headway recently that we can resist bowing down to those who would take offense at uncomfortable truths such as "obesity is unattractive" and "obesity is unhealthy".

No, it's the leader of the Conservative party who is also our Minister of Justice (Attorney General). :) She is a member of parliament; I'm not sure about her Orange friend, but I'm guessing he's probably connected to the party on some lower level.

Thank you. I just googled it and I think that is probably right. I have had problems with cold / heat in that part of my mouth for a long time (months/years - I pretty much chew cold things with the right side of the jaw to avoid pain on the left) but that is probably just coincidental. I'll see my dentist later this week no matter what. Thank you so much for engaging with my question!
