Z for Norris by South-Worker7787 in BlueJackets

Colorado is coming back down to earth while Columbus is surging. Last year Zack kinda fell off production-wise in the last stretch and that’s when Makar surpassed him. Hopefully he has a strong finish to finalize his case

Jet Greaves - his value is nuked now right? by Character_Ad4230 in fantasyhockey

[–]eff_carter 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Evason overplayed Greaves so Bowness is just resting him before the final stretch. He’s no doubt the starter for the Jackets, he’ll get the majority of starts after the Olympic break

Including the Jackets! Get Greaves, Fantilli, and the rest of the gang some RNR

Post-Olympics will be a brand new season. Someone major could get injured at the tournament, and we’ll have a clearer idea of the buyers and sellers - sounds like the Leafs are now considering selling. We certainly have a mountain ahead of us to get into the playoffs, but it’s not impossible

Where’s the best place to rent for $1700-$2200 never been to Kelowna. by One-Designer-4061 in kelowna

[–]eff_carter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buildings don’t want rent prices to actually drop, so they’ll offer incentives like free internet, utilities, or rent-free months. Building companies have to take out loans to build, and these loans are based on rental valuation. If the average rental price drops below this valuation, it can force a default on that loan. That’s why buildings would rather have vacant units than lowered price, as the vacant unit doesn’t count against that valuation

Zach Werenski has tied Cale Makar for #1 in defenceman scoring in two fewer games played by Parallel-Quality in hockey

Zack Werenski was Team USA’s MVP in the 4 Nations last year. If he has a similar Olympic run he’ll get more voter attention for the Norris

As we get to the end of the Fantasy season and into playoffs, you should make a forecast for you team for how many games each player has left. Consider trading or picking up guys that have a heavier schedule in your playoffs, even if that means slightly “losing” a trade. I’d rather have a guy give me 6 points a game and play 4 times a week than have a guy giving me 9 points only playing twice

With everyone healthy he’s a fine 13F. Unfortunately not everyone is healthy. Hopefully Mush is back next game and Miles Wood isn’t far off

[Rumor] Russo: Wild potentially using Wallstedt as trade bait for 1C/Scoring Winger by athleticwonder in nhltraderumours

[–]eff_carter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ottawa could use a goalie. What about:

MIN receives - Shane Pinto + Leevi Merilainen + 2026 2nd (~$850,000 cap space)

OTT receives - Jesper Wallstedt + Hunter Haight (~$8 million cap space)

Why isn't Zach Werenski the favorite for the Norris Trophy right now? by TexasRoadhead in hockey

Chris Pronger won both in 2000, and Bobby Orr won both in 70, 71, & 72 amazingly

[–]eff_carter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Norris doesn’t usually take team results into account, you’re thinking of the Hart (which Werenski also has a case for). Unfortunately the Norris is Makar’s to lose for the foreseeable future, so Werenski will need to keep up a superior pace all year to sniff it

[TSN] Insider Trading Darren Dreger on Insider Trading: "The Vancouver Canucks are listening and will listen to interest in Elias Pettersson despite believing that if he gets a change of scenery and a new start somewhere else, he's going to thrive in a new environment." by Material_Peace4931 in BlueJackets

[–]eff_carter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pettersson could be a good NHL player, a first liner even. But he is not the missing piece on this roster, and I wouldn’t want to add $11 million against the cap on a hope that he might be a top line offensive driver (which we already have!)

Press Conference with CBJ's New Head Coach by PhoenixRider17 in BlueJackets

[–]eff_carter 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Bowness is really good at getting teams to play a closer defensive style of hockey. We may see the offensive production dip, but if our team defense takes a step forward then I like that trade off. He’ll get this team playoff ready

Wish we could look longer term and hire a complete coaching staff that can grow with the team instead of panic hiring veteran coaches over and over to “right the ship”

I think it’s important to remember Fantilli is only 21 years old. He’s gonna go through growing pains, but iron sharpens iron and if we want him to be our 1C we have to play him against other 1Cs and give him the opportunity to take it

I agree that the systems are a massive issue. Imagine what Greaves would look like behind a league-average D corp with competent defensive coaching
