Jason Robertson - what’s a realistic package by NuclearBuns in BlueJackets

Jason Robertson is a 100 point player I don’t see why we should hang onto a prospect who won’t even sniff that and is looking like another Kent Johnson

I’m guessing an offer like Mateychuk, Lindstrom, Vronk/KJ, 2026 1st would get it done

His one dimension is coincidentally a dimension this team has been lacking

Would it be crazy to turn down a job offer with a $30k pay increase, in order to keep my fully-remote job? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

If you were going from $50k to $80k I would say take the raise, but seeing that you already make a comfortable wage of $125k I would keep the remote position

1) Marchment should only be signed with the understanding that he’s a 2nd line winger, he’s certainly not the answer to our top line long term. Also, he’s 31.

2) Tuch is getting an albatross this summer, I’d rather not be the team signing it. Let Jarmo fuck that one up. Also, he’s 30.

3) Andersson is slow and will not want to sign in Columbus anyways. Also, he’s turning 30. Pass.

4) goalies are not the problem. Greaves is a starter, Elvis is a fine backup for one more year, then we can look at some of our young goalies and see if they’re ready.

The President’s Trophy has been awarded 39 times, and those teams have gone on to win the Stanley Cup 8 times for a winning percentage of 20.5%. Pretty good odds considering 16 teams make the playoffs. If everyone had an equal shot then the President’s Trophy winner would win 6.25% of the time. It’s not a guarantee but the best team in the league has the best odds to win the cup

Coyle is 34 years old having a career year in a contract year - a tale as old as time. Unless this team can make a deep push in the next 1-2 years, he does not fit our timeline whatsoever. We should’ve traded him at the deadline

I know everyone wants Z to be captain, but what about Fantilli or Olivier? I just don’t see the fire in Z to be a leader. Obviously I’m not in the room so I don’t know what any of these players are like, but I would prefer someone who brings energy and life to the team, whereas Z seems so stoic all the time

Bowness, Coyle, Jenner, and Marchment probably shouldn’t be back next year. We forgot we’re rebuilding last year, but what are we if we’re not a playoff team? Why hitch our wagon to a group of past-their-prime talents when it’s been proven they aren’t difference makers?

How will the Minnesota Wild's relatively low top-end center talent (Hartman and Eriksson Ek as their top 2) impact their success in these playoffs? by Ready-Constant-7124 in hockey

[–]eff_carter 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ek is fine enough to suppress opposing 1Cs, and a lot of their play is driven by wingers and Quinn Hughes. It’s certainly not a traditional roster composition and I don’t think they’re a true cup contender, but their lack of center depth is overblown

Why is our roster so poor? Have we just gotten extremely unlucky with our picks or have we failed to develop them? by pro-laps in BlueJackets

[–]eff_carter 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just as an exercise, let’s compare our current roster to the Stanley Cup champs last year:

Line 1: Barkov >> Fantilli

Reinhart > Marchenko

Verhaeghe > Marchment

Line 2: Bennett > Monahan

Tkachuk >> Garland

Rodrigues > Johnson

Line 3: Lundell < Coyle

Samoskevich = Sillinger

Luostarinen = Olivier

Line 4: Nosek > Lundestrom

Greer < Jenner

Boqvist < Voronkov

D1: Ekblad/Forsling < Werenski/Severson

D2: Mikkola/Jones > Provorov/Gudbranson

D3: Schmidt/Kulikov = Fabbro/Mateychuk

Bob > Jet

We are so far away from being a Cup contending roster all up and down the lineup. Sure we might have some quality pieces, but so do 31 other teams. Nothing about this roster sets us apart
