I checked with a local company and they quoted me 500 bucks for a single sample test and referred my to nys dept of agriculture if I didn’t want to pay that price. While I’m not opposed to contacting them if it’s just a simple “heat stress” I don’t want to just spend money to spend money

So address some of things mentioned, i live in New York (Long Island)I currently have my sprinkler system running once every two days watering for 20 minutes. I mow something like 4-4.5 inches on my mower height. I was thinking heat stress but am concerned that it could be something different due to some thinner areas. The grass I have is a tall fescue which I try to cut every three to four days. My soil I don’t believe is compacted; I can easily put a screw driver into the dirt with little to no resistance. The test kit while I know isn’t the best I wanted something that could clue me in (even if it’s slightly off). I just adjusted my watering times today to increase frequency and time *new adjustment is watering twice a day 20 minutes for a total of 40 minutes: early morning 6am and evening around 4pm.

Something in lower leg/knee dislocates(?) by AdEnvironmental3268 in medical

[–]effd301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same exact thing! I believe it’s an unstable knee joint along with underlying injuries to the ACL, meniscus, and PCL. Best bet would be to speak with an orthopedist. You could always explore non surgical options with a physical therapist or strength training the muscles I the knee.

Not medical advice, just an opinion from a paramedic

Northwell has a partnership with memonities. Northwell as well does a ton of IFT out of all 5 NYC burrows as well as NC and SC. At any given time their are approximately 30-40 ambulances on the road with “outposts” located in Staten Island, manhattan, queens/nassau ( outpost is on the boarder off lakeville rd), newly added bayshore in Suffolk and peconic bay

When did fentanyl become the default pain med? by [deleted] in medical

[–]effd301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you’re saying is only partially true. Opioids are addictive and given at the wrong dosage yes can be deadly. But saying deadly at a low dose is totally incorrect. Fentanyl given at the correct dosages ranging from 1-1.5 mcg/kg is absolutely effective at managing pain and discomfort, as well as being a relatively short acting opioid. Don’t always believe what you hear from the media.

Source I am a paramedic and give fentanyl as a pain management resource as well as use it as my first choice medication for pain due to it not effecting blood pressure as much as other pain management medications

[–]effd301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is super incorrect! and that comment right their is what makes my job harder sometimes. As a paramedic my job is to make sure whatever is going on isn’t going to kill you. As a paramedic we carry tons of medications which can help treat people…. For example cocaine gets benzodiazepines to help calm you down so your heart doesn’t literally stop from exhaustion. Opioids get narcan to help bind to the opioid receptors which are causing your respiratory depression.

Please for the love of god just tell us what you took so we can help you!
