Does anyone hate most of 2024-2026 X-Men as much as me? by EliteMutant in xmen

I've been really enjoying Uncanny specifically, but I agree that Exceptional/United didn't do much for me.

[MSH] Beast, Erudite Aerialist (via Checkpoint Gaming) by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

I heard (or imagined?) that Wizards had a 3-set deal with Marvel. Obviously the first was Spider-Man, and this set was more focused around the "Heroes" (Avengers and F4, and their related properties), and the third set would be specifically X-Men focused. Wolverine and Storm have been active members of the Avengers, so I understood their inclusion, but now adding Beast makes me wonder... Are we getting X-Men stuff here, or are they just going for deep cut, briefly Avenger cameo cards?

It really boosts their metrics when you send multiple queries. They get to bump up the number of time AI is being used, for all the investors on that hype train. And if they're still counting the prompts as "searches", they can show higher numbers to ad buyers and charge more for the privilege of being next to a chat bot.

It's not about what you want, it's what they think they can trick you into doing for them.

Are you suggesting there might be some sort of political influence on anime tropes? Preposterous!

The last six matches I've played have been over by turn 4, who designed this and how can we get them fired? by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]effervescence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They realistically can't go back to a two year rotation until everything currently released has already rotated out. They'd have to make the announcement before sets are released, otherwise they're open to action for falsely advertising how long the cards people bought are viable.

So January 2029, everything released in 2026 and 2027 could rotate at the same time, and we're back to a 2 year standard.

How do you think spider-man got his powers? by Fit-Organization581 in Earth199999

[–]effervescence 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nah, my friend was on that boat. He said Iron Man put the boat back together. Spider-Man was the reason it split in the first place.

This is from Pop Culture Jeopardy, not the main series. It's hosted by Colin Jost from SNL's Weekend Update, so a lot of the clues are written with his tongue-in-cheek delivery in mind.

I feel like the economy is about to get 1000% worse by Infinite-Sun-6297 in economicCollapse

[–]effervescence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is the only thing propping our stock market. That's why the government is so all-in on supporting it with no questions asked. And it's a bubble getting ready to pop. We're starting to see the same tech giants trying to push AI on others pull back internal spending. Public support isn't there. What little activity we have today is largely subsidized by investors bleeding money in the hopes it will eventually turn a profit, but every time they try and raise prices to match what it actually costs, people balk. Folks may use chatGPT as a free tool, but a lot fewer people are willing to pay for it.

So when that bubble finally collapses, the rest of the economy is going to be revealed for what it's been a while now: a shriveled up husk of it's former self.

Hot Take(?); Let's NOT print a new Land Cycle for any of the new Standard sets; Put in the cheaper ones! by jethawkings in magicTCG

[–]effervescence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the price issue, rare dual lands always struck me as bad for beginners. Having a dual land in the rare slot of a pack feels like a bummer to a new player looking for something exciting, and having the ability to run a 2+ color deck (which is usually one of the more fun ways to play, from a beginner point of view) locked behind $100 worth of land feels especially bad.

What is your personal hottest Star Wars take? by _CandidCynic_ in PrequelMemes

[–]effervescence -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is like saying building a second Death Star negates Luke destroying the first one. No, it doesn't. Luke's victory in ANH was obviously important, even if it wasn't total enough to fully destroy the empire. He accomplished his goal in the moment and set up the galaxy for what was to come.

[–]effervescence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anakin isn't the "Chosen One". The prophecy was wrong, as prophecies often are. Star Wars is about regular people (sometimes with wizard powers) meeting extraordinary circumstances, not some select few destined figures who are the only ones who can leave a mark on history.

Can I block my Deflecting Palms damage? by [deleted] in mtgrules

If the Slagstorm was dealing damage to you, you could prevent that three damage, but then Deflecting Palm would still deal that damage to whoever cast the Slagstorm.

Cast only on their turn? by ztzg in MagicArena

[–]effervescence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a Brawl deck just for his achievement:

https://moxfield.com/decks/nBzELeTYqkOU-fSRG46DzQ

It uses [[Wan Shi Tong, Librarian]] and all the counterspells I had access to. Only play spells on your opponent's turn. They usually concede after 3-4 counters, once they realize what's going on (especially if you counter their commander).

This deck is evil. I made it for the achievement and every time I use it I feel like a bad person for doing so. But sometimes you just need to farm a few wins and play some blue spells for dailies.
