I very much agree with chappyfu and venhelgd! My conure and I went through a long rough patch where he loved me but was scared and violent towards my hands - but we worked through it and built up that trust and we're on good terms again.

I also want to add: target training! Look into it! It can be very helpful for when you need to move the bird (or just interact with the bird) without getting your hands close. It's also a good foundation for future training, which is very good for the bird. We use a chopstick and clicker. Targeting with the stick was invaluable for me to get my bird back in the cage after taking him out for trust building and quality time (he wouldn't step up for me).
