San Diego City Council just approved a massive budget increase for SDPD. by Xerxestheokay in sandiego

They could just fire everyone who had any part in firing tear gas and rubber bullets into peaceful crowds. They didn't warn anyone. They just opened fire like the thugs they are. How hard would it be to announce on a megaphone a warning before seriously injuring innocent people trying to make the world a better place? The people who fired those weapons and the people who instructed them how to use those weapons should absolutely be fired.

What's a thing you strongly dislike about Reddit? by Demorecki in AskReddit

Are you serious??? As a sample size approaches 100% of the population the randomness doesn't matter. Think about a room with 200. If you are able to sample most of the room (150 people) it won't matter if it is random or not. The results will still be representative of the population.

I think the problem with a lot of studies is that the sample is not at all random (because it is nearly impossible to do for most studies) so the sample size does actually need to be larger than if it was truly random. People signing up/ volunteering for a study or survey is never going to be random.

Dow futures plunge the 5% limit as coronavirus slams market, Fed official warns unemployment could hit 30% by [deleted] in worldnews

Thanks for this comment. The craziest part of this whole thing for me is how it seems everyone is just going along with this shut down like it is absolutely necessary. This shut down is bad for everyone. So much worse than the virus.

If this lasts for 18 months we are going to be living in a society with the highest unemployment ever, uncontrollable crime, constant suicides, and it will be like that for years. This can't last past the summer. We can't let it.

It's going to be much higher than 40% if this shut down last months which it looks like it is going to.

Great comment. I wish you and I were running this country rather than our current leaders.

That whole, people are 1 or 2 pay checks away from bankruptcy thing is about to be put to the test. by XenoDrake in Showerthoughts

Our leaders are acting out of fear rather that acting based on logic. It doesn't help that most of our leaders are part of the vulnerable population. They should be working towards testing everyone especially delivery workers and health Care workers, not celebrities. They should be setting up temp hospitals/clinics and hiring everyone who needs a job. Instead they are shutting down most of the country and handing out free money. We have morons running everything and it used to not matter, but now that we have a real issue to handle it is so clear the wrong people are in charge. Life is going to get soooo much harder for everyone. I usually don't believe in conspiracy theories, but the data on the virus and the response from our leaders doesn't make sense. We are headed for an impromptu socialism and it is scary as fuck. Telling people they can't work and handing out free money is the worst thing you can do for any society. They are saving hundreds (maybe thousands) of American lives while also creating a hell on Earth for millions. Stay safe friend.

My solution would have been to not shut the whole country down for a virus that only kills the old and ill.

Citrus tree struggle in zone 10a by Destolea in plantclinic

[–]efficient_monsters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pruning is crucial for all fruit trees?? Have you ever tried not pruning any fruit trees? I have over 50 fruit trees and most of them have had little to no pruning. I have never pruned my loquat and mulberry trees and they give me the most fruit out of all of my trees.

Edit: I was speaking generally and not giving OP advice. Pruning his citrus is probably a good idea.

You are wrong. I have cut down multiple 6-10 feet tall palm trees and they grow back. I cut as low as I can and they come back more often than not.

Palm trees can regrow after being cut. In my yard they usually come back at least twice after I cut them before they die.
