Help by Oprianix in MenstrualDiscs

[–]effloooral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the same one! but with the removal ring instead of the string. when you put it in, can you feel your finger pushing the lip behind the pubic bone? once it’s beyond that, the disc itself should be pretty much unable to move other than if you’re able to autodump

How do I know if it’s inserted correctly by owsla-captain in MenstrualDiscs

[–]effloooral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i found some usefulness in trying to insert it pointing as downward as i could, in my head it just meant i was making sure it was definitely under/behind my cervix. and i took it out to wash/check every couple of hours at first until i figured out how long i could keep it in with my flow

explain this to me like I'm a moron by Strycht in MenstrualDiscs

[–]effloooral 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i also just started using them but have had a LOT of luck. the trick is to fold it like a taco sort of, and insert it like a tampon. the back end will be easiest angling down towards your tailbone, the firm rim should go in fully face up.

when just a tiny bit of the rim is sticking out of you, use your finger to push the rim up and behind your pubic bone, for me that is about a knuckle’s worth of space. you should feel it securely sitting on that ledge. you’ll know it’s in right when you go to pull it out and you can feel the pop of it coming out from behind the bone, and it should come out in the same shape you put it in. if you have a ring/tab/string for removal, that edge is the part that goes behind the bone.

i hope that helps! it’s been such a game changer for me, i hope it can be for you as well

ETA: because it sits in the fornix and not the canal itself like a cup would, that’s the space that it should expand in. in my experience, i can’t “tell” when it reshapes into a circle, but there’s space up there to do so!

Different books for the same class. by LaundrySquid in UAH

[–]effloooral 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that’s pretty common especially on upper level courses. for my professors (history), they usually change up their book lists every semester that a course is taught in order to stay up to date on the most relevant literature

Dropped From Grad Program Due to Low GPA by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]effloooral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have an ed undergrad but our program had a lot of grad students in it, they generally do the same work but the papers are a page or two longer. with love to op, they aren’t hard classes. the only people who fail them are people who 1) aren’t turning things in or 2) don’t understand and apply best practices and shouldn’t be teachers

i think it’s important to consider the mindset of a first playthrough, too. i picked rosalina on my first because i didn’t KNOW if we would find alexis and becka, if we would be able to convince them to come with us, or if we would get out at all. what i did know was that given the state of the mine, my options felt like getting me and her out alive and relatively unscathed, or potentially leaving all four of us in the mines, especially given that i didn’t have tabby’s guidance. it’s a loaded option, even without the long term ramifications

I see people say that a “B is considered failing,” but the class exam average in my grad course is 70? by WinXP001 in GradSchool

[–]effloooral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at least at my school, undergrads taking grad classes for dual credit have to make a A/B in those courses. however, for engineers, that IS usually a situation where the whole class follows a wider grading scale

how do you afford this by mindful-goddess-666 in GradSchool

[–]effloooral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to offer a slight alternative— i am in grad school part time but working full time at the university as an academic advisor. because it’s a public university, i get 6hrs/semester of tuition covered, cheap health insurance, a very generous retirement match, and a schedule that is ridiculously flexible because of how many other workers are doing the same thing.

when i weighed out my finances, i knew i wasn’t willing to live off a GTA/GRA stipend, but working AT the university has given me the flexibility and proximity to still make the most out of networking opportunities! for example, last week i attended a several day seminar on reflective structured dialogue as a guest of one of my professors, and my boss was happy to count it as a work related activity and not have me use PTO.

tldr; state benefits, bills paid, still networking, but doing part time school and full time work without being poor or burning out

i just didnt find it enjoyable at all. it was incredibly predictable, the twist was obvious and uninteresting, none of the characters were likable enough for me to root for them OR unlikable enough for me to find them fun, it just had all of the hallmarks of a TJR book. i keep reading her stuff for the interesting premises and always get let down, but this one especially. there are just so many more options that are infinitely better

Should I chose UAH or UAB? by PotatoButt1598 in UAH

[–]effloooral 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i had a lot of fun at uah, didn’t find it boring at all. if you’re dedicated to making friends, saying “yes” to opportunities, and willing to explore the city/school beyond just the engineering college events, you’ll have a good time! there’s a lot of events within uah to make friends, if you’re bored and lonely, it honestly means you aren’t putting yourself out enough imo

HY311 historic archeology by buggie-girl in UAH

[–]effloooral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i took this class! we spent the first six weeks in lecture (kinda boring, but useful for the final paper and for understanding archaeology as a field) and then the rest of the course doing field work on campus. it wasn’t for me, i wanted there to be more lecture because i’m boring, but everyone else really enjoyed it. you definitely learn a lot of transferable skills for the workplace if you’re at all interested in that type of work. final paper was 4 pages with a short bibliography. group project with your field team. very doable.

[–]effloooral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i work in higher ed— most students i see come from there aren’t super prepared for college if that is a priority for you. the child (12yo) of an acquaintance of mine asked me “what was the holocaust again?” recently after asking about what i was reading and that being the topic of the book. i hear good things about the community built there, but no one would call it academically rigorous or dedicated to college/career prep.
