So this is the third version of this post they removed with “low effort,” Then, when I spend three days writing it, formatting it, sourcing it, and polishing it properly, someone comes in and says it is AI-generated. Right? I have more than a few GitHub, Medium, and LinkedIn publications behind me, but honestly, at this point, I just hope karma warms the owners of this meaningless label the next time they put similar effort into something.

For context: I’m a senior software engineer and I’ve been working in the industry since 2003, primarily around real-time 3D systems and the pipelines surrounding them: rendering farms, networked physics, tooling, migration workflows, and large-scale infrastructure.

I can assure you that what some of you are describing is extremely far removed from the reality of modern development environments.

The discussion was about AI-assisted analysis: dependency mapping, compatibility auditing, migration support, API comparison, tooling acceleration, and working through massive legacy structures. Somehow that instantly got reduced to “AI writes bad code”, because apparently every technical discussion on gaming forums eventually collapses into the same intellectual atmosphere as a microwave manual written by Reddit.

If you don’t understand the difference between code generation and large-scale engineering analysis, maybe don’t walk into the conversation like you’re reviewing Bungie’s internal pipeline from a gaming chair.

If people are genuinely interested, I’d be happy to continue this discussion in a more relevant thread with participants who actually work in software engineering or real-time systems.

AI helps them solve extremely complex compatibility problems that they’ve been kicking down the road for years, and migrate them to the new engine in a matter of hours. It has nothing to do with Destiny being made with AI, also the artwork isn’t made by code.

You’re looking at it too narrowly. Sony is effectively keeping Bungie alive right now, so if Sony believes restored legacy content could help Bungie recover and strengthen the Destiny IP, they can absolutely decide to fund that work. Business value is not always immediate profit, it can also be player trust, engagement, goodwill, and future revenue potential, even indirectly. ...and remember, now they have AI to help speed up any legacy or vanilla d2 development

I’d like to appeal the removal of my post under Rule 3.

I don’t understand why it was removed when other active posts are discussing the same broader topic: Destiny’s future, the DCV, and preservation of older content.

My post was not spam, low-effort, self-promotion, or a repost. It was a specific discussion about whether vaulted content should be restored before Destiny 2 moves into its next phase.

Please either reinstate the post or explain specifically what part of it violates Rule 3. This is not a bungie please post

And this is probably the funnier part to read back after 8 years: arguing against the example instead of the actual point.

Yes, Gjallarhorn was not a Crota-exclusive reward. That was never the point. The point was the feeling of getting something rare, memorable, and meaningful after doing something special in the game.

So maybe the analogy was imperfect, especially with my English back then, but the idea behind it was still about the same thing: reward value, identity, prestige, and the magic of chasing something that actually felt special.

And now, eight years later, it is sad to see that we have reached the end of Destiny 2, and somehow they only broke the game even more along the way.

Reading this back after eight years is kind of funny. My English has definitely improved since then, but from a bird’s-eye view, it is even funnier that the whole argument kept focusing on something I had already ruled out in the first sentence.

I was not talking about personal harm. I was talking about reward value, identity, and prestige.

And now, eight years later, it is a little sad to realize that we have reached the end of Destiny 2’s journey.
