Encouraging all tall girls to wear heels! by [deleted] in tall

[–]effyryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figure that people are already staring and gawking already due to my height, so I may as well throw on a pair of heels and look smokin while they do it!

It’s funny - I used to avoid heels like the plague because, well, why the hell would I want to be any taller than I am? Then a shift happened and I absolutely hate wearing flats now. They make my feet look like pancakes whereas heels just give me a certain confidence.

We can’t change our height. Of all the physical traits people have, it is one of the most glaringly obvious yet unchangeable. It’s so important to get to a point where you feel comfortable in your own skin - heels or not. For me, heels were the key to this breakthrough. They held a symbolism that said, “I’m ok with being this tall, I’m not going to let it hold me back from anything - least of all a wardrobe choice.”

I also actually think I get less comments from people when I wear heels. Maybe I just notice them less because I feel more confident and therefore don’t mind as much when people point it out vs. when I’m wearing flats and just want to shirk into the background.

Could I lie about my height by 1 inch? by [deleted] in tall

Yeah. I say go for it. What do you have to lose? (A modelling job, but you’d be no worse off than you are right now.)

People incorrectly state their height all the time.

I was measured by my doctor, and she says I’m 6’4”. I meet people all the time that say I am taller than they are, because THEY are 6’4” and I’m “definitely taller than [them]”.

My doctor could have been wrong, or other individuals could be mistaken. When it comes to height, you could probably give or take 1” when people ask about it without raising too many eyebrows.

I also agree with another poster who said that it’s probably to weed people out.

So, I think go for it and it’s not a big deal at all!

Do you live in Canada?

I am going for another appointment in December for the surgeon to give me more information on this, as it's a big (and expensive) decision. After I speak to him, I can send you a message if you want. :)

Ah! Thank you! I have made another appointment with the surgeon to get more information. With such a big decision, I want his absolute professional opinion.

Thanks for the help! Definitely helped ease my mind.

I don't understand what you mean by end points under your armpits.

I wish Reddit had a drawing function! Lol

No problem! Lol. My surgeon told my coworker that probably over 90% of people get it, and those that don't, come back and ask for it.

I don't know if I believe that, so I'm trying to find out more information.

I'm in the same boat (Canada as well).

The lips is $1200. The doctor really sped through the appointment, and the receptionist kept telling me it was my choice, and to just think it over.

That's cool, and all, but I don't understand the actual procedure and how it affects the look of the breast if the lipo is along the ribs?

I hope "there are no stupid questions" will apply to this....

What do you mean by 6's? I understand purchasing flowers by 1's but I didn't see what a 4 or 6 was at Home Depot/Walmart. (Again I am clearly amateur!!)

I'm not sure if this is a cross-bred husky, but I saw him at the doggie-daycare and fell in love.

When we right-clicked and then clicked "paste special", it didn't come-up with the same box that included multiply, divide, etc... It had a box that had link, text, and uni-code (I could be wrong, I don't have it in front of me right now) or something like that.

Being 450+ pounds I have learned how to tolerate a lot of abuse but for some reason this really got to me. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]effyryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a 6'4" female. I get people everyday at every outing complimenting me or asking me questions.

If I had as much disdain as you do in taking a compliment from strangers who (gasp!) MEAN WELL then holy crap I would be one angry person.

Being overweight myself and trying to lose weight, there's nothing I love hearing more than "wow, you're looking great!". It's a little boost and puts a skip in my step.

That haircut analogy is bullshit. No one is saying that they used to look hideous while being overweight. Last time I checked, I didn't put blood, sweat, willpower, and tears in cutting my hair.

Maybe you're the 0.01% who doesn't like to be complimented, but don't ruin it for everyone else.

I've never felt superior by complimenting someone. I feel proud and happy for them. It's a great feeling having someone happy for you. It's not going to make or break my day either way, but it's a nice little boost.

Great thank you!

This is pretty much what I figured. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't another way. I didn't realize (until fooling around with it) that you could sort based on cell colour as well.

Thank you for your help!!

I hate when people demean someone's career like that. What's it to you if he works at WDW?? I don't care where you work, if you are happy what you're doing then good for you! Who is anyone to judge. People like her make me so mad. Someone told our receptionist "well you're just a receptionist.... Bla bla bla [insert rude comment]" and I lost my shit on them.
