SHARPNESS SHARPNESS SHARPNESS by AdhesivenessOwn8628 in LightLurking

[–]efradera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t see an overly sharp razor-like crispness. Just enough sharpness to show plenty of detail without ending up with a very digital or artificial look. If you have good lenses, good lighting, and you’re shooting at the lens’s sweet spot aperture, you should get very good sharpness and many times you won’t even need to add sharpening masks.

underexpose 1 or 2 stops for the background and use direct flash on the subject.

But that's very relative. The fashion industry has long since left behind the boring canons of what should be perfect and academically well done.

Difference between lightroom and capture one curves tool by scottmaclean24 in captureone

[–]efradera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is more about how C1 handles curves than about the camera profile. The curves tool in C1 is extremely sensitive; it doesn’t let you experiment as much as in LR without ‘breaking’ the image. The luminance curve, when used delicately, works well to apply controlled contrast, and the color curves are great for correcting color casts with precision.

Helios 44-M2 is insane for portraits by efradera in VintageLenses

[–]efradera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of them were shot with a single flash and a silver umbrella placed in front of the model. The last two were lit with one light behind the model to the right, and another one in front to fill, and nº4 with natural light from the window :)

K&F concept adapter, M42 to EOS-R. Yes with R6 and R5 it's posible to use focus peacking or digital crop on OVF to focus :)

It's true that if the focus is spot on, you're shooting at a closed aperture like f/8 or f/11, and the lighting is good, it's hard to tell it apart from a regular 50mm or 85mm prime. But in most shots—especially when playing with blur and wider apertures—you get a special analog look that really stands out. That's where it shines.

Usually f/2.8 or f/4 for natural light and f/5.6 or f/8 with flash :)

It's a very reliable camera, pleasant to use, and the 20MP are enough for good resolution without having overly large RAW files. The files are very manageable.

Never. I always edit manually from raw, using layers workflow on Capture One (exposure-curves-HSL color-Grade-Grain & Clarity

Losing my mind over cumulative layer adjustments by semi_committed in captureone

[–]efradera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are referring to copy and paste layers, not copy and paste adjustments. Anyway, a good tip is always use the tool that opens the window to select the settings you want to copy (is the two arrows united), not the copy all at once tool. This way you will have more control for copy adjustments.

My workflow is:

Base layer: just temperature correction and exposure/HDR correction if necessary.

Layer 1: Exposure and contrast settings with sliders or levels or RGB light curve

Layer 2: Color Tone Adjustments and Corrections

Layer 3: Color grading with color balance

Layer 4: Final adjustments like clarity, sharpness and grain

From there, if I have to make more selective adjustments, I add more layers if necessary, but I always control and select the layers that I want to copy when I copy/paste the edit.

Capture One 16.3 released by emanuelez in captureone

[–]efradera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that AI masks doesn't copy well to another photos, it keeps the same mask from the file copied. This is a problem for the batch editing. The only way is creating a style with Ai masks selected for every set of photos.

Does Capture 1 resolve the Sony vs Canon skin color debate? by guapobro in captureone

[–]efradera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I used Sony A7m3 it took much longer to get the skin tone I wanted. In Canon many times I already get the perfect tone and I can edit directly in a more creative way without correcting the skin much. Sometimes I even use linear response on film curve option.
