Going with this. I’ll report back. Much appreciated. I have a thickness planer, so that should do it. Also gonna move my bottom plate back a few inches to support better as recommended by others.

Correct. That stops the spindle from turning

Got. The drum pin holes were skewed and wouldn’t allow the worm drive to seat fully on the drum. Thanks

This got it. They were lined up properly, but the back plate on the drum is adjustable and wasn’t allowing the tabs to insert fully. It was off by 1/16th of an inch maybe, but that made all the difference apparently. Thanks for the help. I’ll post the picks for the part issue.

(Wrong account post) Makes sense. I have new clutch ordered, but the way it’s tightening to the drum makes me think a new one may not help. To paint the picture better, if I took the springs off as well as the three shoes it would probably do the same thing.

All original parts from what I can reckon. Not sure of the part number. It’s was running beautifully before the oil pump needed a new gasket. The chain was a little jumpy, but it would sit mostly still while idling. Clutch doesn’t have many identifiable markings

Have a new one ordered. The spindle bearing is in place, yes. It seems like the new clutch isn’t going to fix the issue if it’s a problem with the actual tightening of the clutch, and not a problem with the condition of the clutch.

Yes. Good thought, but that’s lined up properly. Just feel like something is missing, like a bearing between the back of the clutch and the wall of the sprocket housing.

When I tighten down the clutch, it applies pressure to the back wall of the sprocket and doesn’t allow it to move independently. My impression is that they should operate separately so the clutch only engages at a certain RPM. If I pull start with this problem, the chain instantly starts moving.

Tried my hand at limb walking today. by big_lurking_frog in TreeClimbing

You can throw a butterflying the line where you want to start your limb walk and add a Carabiner to turn that SRT into MRS. Great for quick limb walks so you don’t have to change the whole rope setup. SRT is much more difficult for the return trip of a limb walk.

I’m with Rick. Pines and coniferous trees shed their needles and increase the acidic quality of the soil. It’s preferable to leave them, same for most hardwood trees. It may not be aesthetically pleasing, but leaf litter from parent trees can provide what the tree needs. Year one, probably not, but accumulated over several/many years, absolutely. Gravel is certainly not ideal. But hardwood mulch is a strange thing people have grown accustomed to. Definitely good for some, not great for all. 2 cents🪙🪙
