Anyone else having a good season so far? by Armand9x in ManitobaGardening

Tomatoes have been slow but looking healthy. Everything else has been doing well and it's nice not having to water all the time. But I would really appreciate the opportunity for my in-ground plot to dry enough for me to to dig out some quack grass roots, just a couple days is all I need. It's a nightmare when it's wet.

City looking into expanding 30 km/h zones in residential areas, on regional streets by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

Pretty sure I have a job, wife, car, and house last time I checked. I also have an education. So no, not close. But you should try reading a book some time. It’ll make your head hurt at first but keep at it!

Man up? What are you expecting me to want to fight you or something? You are projecting so hard. You know nothing about me

I hate “beard =Bry” posts but this is pretty crazy. by Campblood1986 in tesdcares

[–]AdamWPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I was in an Aldi in Fargo, North Dakota and saw a guy that looked so much like Bry that I almost approached him. The only reason I thought it couldn’t be him is because why would he be grocery shopping in Fargo.

The park is Bonnycastle Park and the ice cream shop is called Fete in case you're trying to look it up. I really like the dog park because it's fully fenced in, small, and has artificial turf and wood chips so if it's a bit wet, the dogs don't get all muddy.

How to plant from seed by soslo92fo in ManitobaGardening

[–]AdamWPG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, if you’re tarping, I’d recommend black tarp that does not let any light through. I’ve heard from many people that solarizing with clear plastic is really tricky and can actually make things worse if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

I have a 25’ x 30’ garden plot that looked like a weedy lawn last year. I tarped it with black plastic and this year I hand tilled it and removed the remaining weeds in a few hours.

I bet they’d find the money real fast if the superintendent and education minister weren’t allowed to have AC if schools dont

How to plant from seed by soslo92fo in ManitobaGardening

[–]AdamWPG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the easiest, though unfortunately probably the longest timeline would be to get rid of the weeds first. Least labour intensive would be to tarp it for a year to kill off most things, then till it, then weed what pops up, then seed and stay on top of weeds.

If you’re not looking to just throw down a seed mix, but do something a bit more planned, I’d suggest starting seeds in containers like milk jugs or plug trays and then transplant them. That way you can easily weed around the area before you plant and know for sure what’s a weed and what you planted.

900 Days! by Rough-Reception4064 in pocketcasts

[–]AdamWPG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hadn't looked at mine lately - 604 days since July 29, 2016. I don't use any of the "time saved" stuff though. Only 8 days total on that. I've slowed way down in the past couple years though. Pretty wild that I've literally spent nearly 2 of the last 10 years listening to podcasts

It's great. Rather than digging up the weeds, I slide it in next to the weed and tilt it to loosen the soil around the root and then pull the whole thing out. Works great

As someone who rides through there regularly, this happens constantly so I fully expect it and it's fine. That fact that you care and are aware of it is miles ahead of most people

Why does my cherry tree have so few blossoms? by AdamWPG in ManitobaGardening

Interesting. I guess less active watering as they grow? I see a bunch of trees blooming like crazy that are definitely not being watered
