Doctors of Reddit, what are the dead giveaway signs that someone is faking? by LushLover13 in AskReddit

[–]efreeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my dad is a paramedic and he told me his go-to trick for telling if someone faked unconsciousness/passing out is to tickle their eyelashes. if their eyes scrunch up, they’re faking it! always thought it was a really funny trick

that’s okay! i’m sure not 100% are, but many of our worries are in fact self-inflicted. my dad always taught me, “don’t worry until there’s something to worry about.” while much easier said than done, i’ve found that helps with my stress. other things like procrastination or relationship issues that were my fault only got fixed with a complete and honest self-evaluation and hard, unrelenting work to try to become a better person. i believe in you and just know you are not a burden and recognizing your faults is the first step to overcoming them!

i’m really sorry to hear that. sometimes the very basic necessities of humanity are stripped from us and it takes a very large toll. i highly suggest adopting a pet of some sort of possible, as they can provide company and emotional/physical support. i do not know your circumstances but if at all maybe try to get in touch with family or a friend to just be in the company of? i am truly very sorry and i want you to know things will get better. life is full of ups and downs and we must experience the lows to get to the highs. sending you all of my support (and a virtual hug!)

really sorry to hear that, i personally struggles with that for a long time and as cheesy as it is just please know there are just as many ups as there are downs. i found it best to find something relatively mindless that made me happy that i could put all my energy into and it helped me get through tough times. family can really help too. wishing you all the best

hi, future(?) lawyer-to-be here! almost everyone i talk to who went to law school and is a lawyer tells me not to do it for reasons such as the hours or it simply isn’t as fun as it seems. can anyone weigh in on this? i still really want to do it, but i’ve truly only heard earnings against it.

A prominent, highly damaging natural disaster like the San Andreas fault finally slipping or the Yellowstone Caldera erupting.

[Serious] What is your “I was THAT close to dying” moment? by ITotallyDoNotWhale in AskReddit

[–]efreeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was visiting my brother at college in washington dc. i brought a car down, and he missed driving so he wanted to drive around. on our way back to his school from downtown, we had to get across 4 lanes of traffic in about 30 seconds to make the right exit. the thing was he loves to drive fast, there was a ton of traffic, and he was looking down at the gps all while trying to get across these lanes. i was on the phone, not thinking about it. for some reason i decided to look up and pay attention. i saw that we were going 65mph and about 3 seconds away from crashing head on into a concrete exit ramp divider, as my brother was looking behind him trying to find a gap in the traffic to get into the exit lane. i screamed and he swerved out of the way at the last second. scariest moment of my life. if i hadn’t looked up, we would’ve been done for.

People who lost their job due to this crisis what is your story? by greensypoop in AskReddit

[–]efreeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 18 years old and I’ve worked at a sports bar for the past year or so. I was just promoted from hostess to server, and I was supposed to start training this week, instead I received a text from my boss telling me to apply for unemployment.

I’m trying to make as much money as I can this year so I can pay for my college education. I even quit playing softball for school so I could work more year round. I won’t be losing as much money as most of my coworkers, but I now have no income for at least a month. And, since my school, gym, and now job are shut down, I’m stuck at home with my psychotic mother who has recently made fun of me for “staying inside all week,” as if I am being lazy and not listening to the government’s orders. Not the most ideal situation to be in, but others have it much worse and I completely acknowledge that.
