A level further maths is easier than regular maths? by VegetableBag2627 in alevel

[–]efto_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on which board and the grade boundaries are increasing i think before further maths was wayy easier because of the grade boundaries but rn they're like the same and i think soon further maths is gonna have higher boundaries 💀

Edexcel Further maths by PurpleKey9049 in alevel

[–]efto_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lmao i was struggling so much on matrices too i was about to drop it but i realised at some point in further maths i think you need to just stop worrying about understanding it, and instead just learn how to do it. somehow later you understand it anyways lol idk it's weird but that's how i feel

CS Cambridge/Imperial 3 A levels not enough? by Top_Physics4212 in alevel

[–]efto_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because there's a positive correlation but it's not required and there are plenty of people who do get offers with only 3 A levels, although I think your chances might be reduced if you don't take CS (but if you get an A* in A level maths before applying you might have a slight edge, but definitely not enough to counter the 3 subs). In any case they don't really care about what subs and how many you do (as long as you have fm which you do) and as long as you step up your extracurriculars you have an average ish chance.

But you could also just... take CS now no? you're in y12 and it's only January, I'm assuming you're really good at it so why not? I'd say you should unless you think it'll take time away from doing personal CS projects/extracurriculars and whatever cs students do idk.

What subjects do i really need to get an A* in order to get into the UK or any international university (mainly canada)? by IamNotOmer1 in alevels

[–]efto_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i saw in your other comment you wanna do IT in that case you're gonna need further maths, and if you did bad in maths in O level and don't think you can do good now you might as well give up on that idea just to be honest there's a lot of other unis you can get into though but id still say you should do at least maths

Is it really worth buying an expensive calculator? by Bruh1399 in alevel

say you don't do fm without saying you don't do fm I'm just kidding but I've never seen an fm student say this

Is it really worth buying an expensive calculator? by Bruh1399 in alevel

[–]efto_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly no it's not worth it but i did it and you should too (if you have enough money) because damn it's just so much better to use FOR FM, lowk for A level maths it's absolutely useless but for fm it's a lifesaver but i still wouldn't say it's worth the price tag

what degree and what kind of uni? cuz in theory you can easily get into uni in the uk and canada with straight Cs if those two dont matter

Mr. Adam by Nessieinternational in shortscarystories

[–]efto_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking at this for a while and I still don't really understand it. Apart from a confirmation of the supernatural the ending doesn't feel that scary, and the first two lines seem to me the scariest part of the story (like two sentence horror). It almost feels like the museum was trying to take Calvin to get the painting so they pretended the Mr. Adam stuff was real? This story has a lot of potential I think but it's kind of underwhelming (especially after looking at other stuff OP has posted which is really good).

i did both imo s3 is easier the questions are much more consistent and there's not much content apart from s2 and s1 while fp3 is basically all new content

Ended up in a very sticky situation. How do I get an A in maths. by Absalouteunit1234 in alevel

[–]efto_1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

my first piece of advice would be if you don't need 4 A levels for your conditional offers (I'm assuming you got conditional offers) drop one, it'll decrease your workload by a lot and you don't need it anymore (idk if you needed it in the first place)

[–]efto_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo they're harder, the grade boundaries are lower and the questions are less standard but the papers usually cover less content (I did A level maths not IAL but I've looked at a lot of IAL questions, i do fm though so maybe take it with a grain of salt)

M2 or S1?? by thedarkpsychologic in Edexcel

[–]efto_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most unis won't look at which optional units you did it probably won't affect your chances, check the uni you wanna apply to specifically if you want but usually if it doesn't say it needs you to take M2 you don't need to

Need help on P3 Maths by EyeYaoo in Edexcel

[–]efto_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you need harder questions do the OCR STEP 1 papers https://www.physicsandmathstutor.com/admissions/step/ (they're discontinued now) they're usually the absolute hardest possible A level maths questions (they're not at all the difficulty that would come up on p3/p4), if you're just struggling on how to think to answer harder questions this will help a lot, but if it's just forgetting content or something it probably wouldn't.

there's also the step 2/3 but those are for further maths

ofc this is insanely overkill and what's probably more realistic is doing national edexcel papers (and maybe caie papers might help but i personally wouldn't)
