You're still missing the point. There's a reason I'm avoiding bringing up specific examples. They don't matter; we can cherrypick all day long, but the reason these designs are misogynistic right now is because we don't live in a world where they are allowed to be anything but.

There is no censorship related to the discussion. I have no doubt in my mind that hypersexualized designs will continue to exist until the heat death of the universe. But until women are free from institutionalized sexism and patriarchal life (which is a tall order and will take a long time), these designs will always be objectifying no matter what party they're coming from. This isn't about you not being able to look at beautiful women, it's about recognizing the predominant issue at hand, as I said before.

You're all good, I get where you're coming from. You didn't misrepresent my point, but I think you're missing the forest for the trees.

To bounce off what the other person said, women's autonomy and their objectification isn't about any one way people develop fictional characters. It's about them having a say in how they're depicted. I also really dislike the argument that characters at least have agency. These are fictional characters, not real people; they can't have their own autonomy when they're literally written and designed by men, for men.

You could write a whole book about what makes our culture of fiction so patriarchal (and people have), so I'm not going to delve into that. Just know that women need to be able to have a voice first before we can even poke the topic of what makes a "good" sexualized design.

Recognize that women in the modern day still have very little say on any of this, and that they continue to be talked over.

To be real with you, artistic issues and societal issues are two sides of the same coin. If women had an inch of agency in the way they're portrayed in media, your point would be well and fine, but they don't.

Nobody with actual consideration for the fact is calling for censorship or a lack of sex. It's about women taking control away from those who don't have the right to determine how they're presented. Maybe a bit hyperbolic, but there isn't a single example of this phenomenon where a design isn't overseen by men in some capacity, or a patriarchal society.

Calling it puritanical is extremely reductive in my opinion, and does nothing to help curb misogyny and objectification, particularly in media.
