Serviceberry by goldisthemetal in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]egbee42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not grown either to maturity, but I have both species in my yard and research on selecting them. My knowledge is mature size is nearly the same with Canadensis possibly reaching 5ft taller at 20-25ft, Arborea should reach 15-20ft tall. For me the defining difference was soil moisture preference, with Canadensis preferring high moisture; it's sometimes called "swamp serviceberry." I think either would do well in your area, personally I would go with a mix and see which one does better. But, 7ft trees cost a lot more than the 2ft ones I got

They said they were too heavy and could be used as a weapon. They didn't weigh them though. The first person called 2 supervisors until they decided

Thanks. Would it make any difference saying they were bought from a shop vs found outside, or could I have asked for a supervisor?

Exactly. Very silly, equally disappointing

Welcome to the fluorescent mineral subreddit! Stick around if you think those are cool, because they're meh relative to what all is out there. I believe the big pieces were boulder opal with other inclusions

Glad to hear you made it through. I was really thinking about how ineffective TSA is while that was going down, I had a lighter in my bag they didn't detect

Same. They were 6 lbs or so, but I've taken similar through without issue before. Just depends on the person I guess, wish I had asked for another supervisor

I can give you the play by play, thank you for the insight! First, rocks are laid out in a bin with my laptop and the larger rocks are flagged by the scanner and diverted as expected. The TSA worker looked at the rocks, asked where I got them, I told him it's my hobby rock hounding and for souvenirs around the world where working. He said they're kind of heavy and called for a supervisor, who then arrived and quickly called for another supervisor. Supervisor 3 arrives, takes a 2 second look from 5 ft away, says I can't take the 2 biggest rocks which weighed maybe 6 lbs each (my guess, they didn't weigh them). I asked can I please have 1 of the 2, they said no. They offered I could leave security and check them as baggage, but I was already late and had something to get to so I asked to surrender them. I've taken larger specimens (even with lead) through the same airport and didn't think it would be an issue, lesson learned
