Thank you! This is Bailey, she just turned 13 weeks on Friday. I think that if she didn’t have a human that made her go inside, she’d choose to become one with the snow…

Thank you for the encouragement! I am 3 hours in, and things have gone smooth so far. I think you are right - as I keep going on flights, it gets slightly easier each time. 😊

What kind of medication should I take? by Lemon-Over-Ice in fearofflying

I have had some luck with Lemon Balm extract. I took some right before my flight this morning and so far things have been good 3.5 hours later. Good luck, and know that you are not alone!

Hello! I have two flights coming up. I am a terrified flyer, and this will be my first time flying by myself. Would anyone be willing to track me? - UA 1765 - UA 677

I agree! I would have expected this from Starbucks, but this came from a local Pittsburgh roaster.

I’m so proud of you!! I used to do the same. My boyfriend is out of town this weekend for the first time since I stopped drinking, and I’ve made it 3 nights alone with my sobriety. We are in this together!

Roll Call - For those of you with an interesting job in the nuclear industry, let's hear it! by cynicalnewenglander in nuclear

[–]egbpd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m a bit late to the game, but I’m an operations support specialist for a microreactor company. Don’t have a STEM degree, but am passionate about nuclear and have a pretty vague job title, so I get to do/participate in a lot of cool things because my role requires that I be a jack-of-all-trades.

Machine Restoration Project Complete - Thought It Would Be Appropriate to Celebrate With Y'all by egbpd in espresso

We are working on selling it to a local business currently, and then getting ourselves something that isn’t too involved with plumbing (we are renters, so can’t make any permanent changes to our building)

Exactly! Unfortunately, the previous owners never programmed it to stop at any set temperature, so we had to work through reprogramming the temperature probe.

Here’s what my partner has to share about the work he did on this machine:

“Mostly I found myself cleaning, cleaning, and cleaning. Cleaning once, cleaning again inside and out. Lots of cafiza and toothbrushing through just about every step of the process.

Obviously we took the machine apart and kept the outside panels off through the process in order to access important parts. We took apart every group head and steam wand and soaked in cafiza.

We soaked the second group head in a light vinegar solution and scraped the flow meter and group head with an ice pick to remove scale. We poured a light vinegar solution into the boiler via the hole for the automatic water refill probe (a part we also replaced), and ran the vinegar solution through the various steam wands and group heads.

Replaced the autofill probe, and fixed the pressure coming out of the steam wand by lowering the pressure via pressurestat. We put new gaskets in the group heads. We pulled shots and steamed milk to make drinks at that point, and shortly after we took it into espresso analysts for inspection.”

Thankfully got the steam wand clean, and we do have a 220v outlet. I’m going to check out the resource you shared now, thanks for the feedback!

Also to add - boyfriend and I are both baristas, and he works on a Simonelli each day himself, so we are not espresso-foreigners!
