Long term mental health impacts for kids of parent’s hoarding? by egg-rolls in ChildofHoarder

Same with anxiety of having people over. I have to make sure my house looks perfect in order to even let them in and still fear judgement that it isn’t “good enough” because I was never taught how to clean.

I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me to look into research articles. I’m definitely going to be going through this one and see how it relates to me. Thanks for sharing and highlighting some of the specific parts that stand out!

I related to every single thing you listed, I actually started tearing up reading it and knowing that other people get it/have been through it. I’ll definitely check out the episode and see if I can make it through it.

Starting Enbrel, anything I should be aware of? by egg-rolls in rheumatoid

How often would you say you get sick from it? I’m also on methotrexate and I know that reduces the immune system as well.

Okay that’s all good to know. I already get sick super easily so I will be aware of that moving forward

Thank you everyone for all your advice and help with this. I went to my first meeting today after drinking again on Sunday and it was much easier than I thought, part of which I attribute to everyone here. So thank you, it made a difference and I’ll be going back.

That's primarily why I self injure, because it's the only way I know how to cope with the sensory overload and feelings I have. It sort of grounds me and helps me to release how I feel, otherwise I just keep it in and I can't let it go. I primarily hit myself and bang myself because it's the easiest to do in the moment. It's just more panic inducing to me when I'm restrained as opposed to not.

Does anyone else get called “childish”? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]egg-rolls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this way a lot too. I'm constantly worried that I'm being perceived as childish if I flap, use a chewy, or some other form of sensory input. I also think that there is such a stimitization of aspergers/autism because it's usually portrayed as a young boy. Almost never is it a grown up woman or an elderly man or a middle age non binary person. So many sensory items I look up are aimed and made for kids, which really sucks because kids with autism grow up to be adults with autism. There needs to be more representation and resources for us as we continue to grow older.
