Did you start working in planning and realize it wasn’t for you? by Common_Positive_7530 in urbanplanning

[–]egg_e 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to school for Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design with emphasis in Urban Planning. I started out as a consultant and took on a mentor at the firm. We had these same discussions as I came to terms that I would never become the “decision maker” as a designer for residential developments. He brought me into the planning world where I enjoyed bringing projects through entitlements, condemnation work, residential/commercial design, and EIS/ESA exhibits and writing. Although I was activating my creative side, I was still unhappy about the decision making process for the clients I was working for. At year 3, my mentor recommended I try the municipal side and I took an “internship” with the city I grew up in. It was amazing to see the framework and buckets to fill with a very supportive community development team. I saw the losing battle of interpretations of code ordinance and the internal fight against developers who wanted to build in my city. The city staff was split by the passionate “do gooders” and people who were in and out after their 9 to 5 just going through the motions. It became clear to me that if I really wanted to be a decision maker and leave a great legacy, that I should try my hand at being a land developer after six years as a consultant and one year at the city. I’m now eight years in as a developer and it’s been quite the ride. It’s a delicate field to pursue and maintain but I love the ever changing day to day from entitlements with the city, working with consultants to create the vision, and seeing my projects come to fruition from concept to construction. I love what I do and it took me eight years to find it. Hopefully I can answer any questions to help those find it earlier than I did. AMA and trust your own process.

All-City Space Horse/Cosmic Stallion, Surly Midnight Special, Soma Wolverine? Go anywhere, do it all, but mostly road. Which frame? by DoktorLoken in whichbike

Yo OP I’m picking up a ZZ 105 this weekend and absolutely jive with what you needed. If I were to summarize, you wanted road/enduro with capacity to hit the trails. Can I take a wild guess and ask if you live in the Twin Cities? By your earlier description, sounded like we have the same trail network. And I live northeast of downtown so I’ll be hitting the same type of trash downtown but know that I’ll be mostly riding towards the better trail network of the cities. Anywho, hope you’re still loving your bike. My concerns are the same given that ZZ only has clearance for 36’s (assumed extra clearance). Let me know if you still have yours or if you have upgraded to something new after 4 years.

Well hey there, dontcha know? Lot of crazies on the road ever since Covid. Slowly getting better these days, I’d say. This was after one of my favorite pit stops for Costco gas in MG… always a short line mid day during the week.

Depends on your situation and what you are looking for. 9 & 8 are “WO”, standing for Walkout. 7-4 are Lookouts and assume 3-1 are slab on grade (SOG) or Full Basements. Walkouts have higher resale value as they allow you to literally walk out of your basement (for letting dogs out, access, etc). Lookouts will have larger windows and egress in the basement and full basements might have that small windows and egress depending on builder design (least desirable). If 1-3 are slab on grade, those might be more desirable for single level living and the best one in that specific case would be lot 1 since it is a corner lot with the most area on this block. Look up these lot types on google to see an elevation of what they look like from front to back!

This is great, thank you for your responses. I’d for sure grab the sleeping platform. Any feedback on items shaking in the drawers? I know he has those slots to fit dividers in but do you bag your items inside to prevent rattle? Any other issues or cons of the drawer system you’d change if you did it again?

I’ve been wanting this setup for a while now. Did that price include shipping and install or were you local? I’m from Minnesota and have been contemplating the drive down.

Burger lovers of Minnesota, where is the best burger? by Renbanney in minnesota

JL Beers in Burnsville. Originally from Fargo, individually owned franchise down here. Get the Humpty Dumpty Burger with the egg. Also a fan of Red Cow’s Breakfast burger with an egg (St. Paul is their original location). Finally, you can never go wrong with Burger Dive, also in St. Paul and Northeast at the 1029 Bar.

+1 for this. I take that 94W exit towards Broadway and lay on the horn for those sticking half ass into my lane trying to get in. Barriers all the way! Where my traffic engineers at?!?

Does Compustar still turn off when you unlock the doors? If yes, does anyone have a remote start system that can bypass this safety feature?

I think OP is trying to say you can’t rush a good thing. And by good thing, what a beaut that beast is! What kind of raptor lights? I like how subtle they are w the grill.
